Job Overview:
The Admin Assistant/Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the premises of the organization in Khartoum. This position is under the guidance of the HR and Admin Manager and involves performing maintenance services effectively and efficiently. The individual will be responsible for conducting routine repairs and maintenance work in offices and guesthouses, ensuring that all facilities are in good working order. The Admin Assistant/Technician will work independently on routine tasks while also following the instructions of the HR/Administration officer for day-to-day operations. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying maintenance needs and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and organizational standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Admin Assistant/Technician include conducting routine repair and maintenance work in offices and guesthouses, processing cash advances, and coordinating with the Supply Chain department for external services when necessary. The individual will perform weekly checks of guesthouses and office rooms to identify any repair needs, maintain a tracking sheet of all repairs requested, and ensure timely checks on electricity meters. Responsibilities also include maintaining sufficient stock of drinking water and cooking gas, managing inventory of repair spare parts, supporting stock-taking processes, and conducting monthly inspections of safety systems. The Admin Assistant/Technician will perform general maintenance tasks such as drywall repair, carpentry, flooring repair, painting, and minor electrical and plumbing works. Additional tasks include quarterly window cleaning, monthly cleaning of air conditioner filters, assembly and installation of furniture, and moving office items as needed. The individual may also be assigned other duties by the line manager.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work. Experience in an international non-governmental organization (INGO) in a similar role is desirable. The candidate must possess fluency in both verbal and written English and Arabic languages. Skills in using hand and power tools related to electricity, plumbing, and carpentry are essential. Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices is required, along with the ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings. Familiarity with various piping materials and the ability to complete assigned tasks independently are also necessary. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously are critical for success in this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a diploma in relevant works and relevant technical training. An electrician license is also required to ensure that the individual is qualified to perform electrical tasks safely and effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in electric, plumbing, and carpentry work. Experience in an INGO or similar environment is highly desirable, as it indicates familiarity with the unique challenges and requirements of working in humanitarian settings.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, as effective communication in both languages is essential for performing the duties and responsibilities of the role.
