Job Overview:
The position of Chauffeur at FHI 360 in Petion-Ville involves providing safe transportation for employees, consultants, and visitors to various locations in Port-au-Prince. The role requires the chauffeur to assist passengers in entering and exiting the vehicle courteously, maintain the vehicle's cleanliness, and ensure its proper functioning through regular maintenance and repairs. The chauffeur will also be responsible for keeping a vehicle log book, conducting daily vehicle inspections, and ensuring that all necessary documents are up to date. This position is crucial for supporting the operational needs of the STRIDES project, which focuses on strengthening infectious disease detection systems in Haiti, thereby contributing to the overall health security of the nation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chauffeur will be responsible for transporting office personnel, consultants, and visitors to authorized locations. Key responsibilities include ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of the vehicle, completing a vehicle log book, conducting daily inspections of the vehicle's condition, organizing necessary repairs, and ensuring that all required documents such as insurance and maintenance records are current. The chauffeur will also plan routes based on schedules or ad-hoc requests, ensure compliance with road safety regulations, respond to special requests for deliveries and pickups, and provide protection in high-risk areas. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed, emphasizing the importance of flexibility and responsiveness in this role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record, along with a secondary school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of three years of driving experience is required, preferably with heavy vehicles or equivalent training. The ability to identify problems within established procedures and refer unusual issues to higher authorities is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate physical capability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift or move up to 25 kg. Familiarity with technology, including personal computers and Microsoft applications, is also necessary for this role.

Educational Background:
A secondary school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Candidates with higher education qualifications may be preferred, but practical experience and driving skills are paramount.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of driving experience, with a preference for candidates who have experience driving heavy vehicles or have received equivalent training. The ability to navigate various driving conditions and respond to emergencies is crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered an asset. Knowledge of Haitian Creole may also be beneficial for effective communication within the local context.
