Job Overview:
The Programme Associate (Data Analyst) position is crucial for enhancing the WFP Philippines Country Office's (CO) capacity to manage and analyze large datasets that inform programming and technical assistance to the government. The role involves supporting the development of research designs, methodologies, and data collection plans, as well as managing field data collection efforts. The Data Analyst will work closely with the Research Coordinator and other team members to ensure that data analysis aligns with the needs of WFP and the intended research audience. This position requires a blend of analytical skills and a strong understanding of food security and vulnerability issues in the Philippines, contributing to the overall mission of WFP to provide effective humanitarian assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting research and evidence-generation activities using quantitative and qualitative tools; assisting in technical assistance initiatives for government partners; ensuring robust data gathering and monitoring systems are in place; contributing to project management support for the country strategic plan; actively monitoring food security developments; supporting capacity building for WFP staff and partners; developing data collection tools and analysis plans; participating in the design and analysis of Vulnerability Analysis and Monitoring & Evaluation surveys; leading the design and implementation of visual products for real-time reporting; maintaining the CO database; ensuring quality and consistency of collected data; liaising with colleagues and consulting references for technical problem-solving; and supporting geospatial data management and GIS analysis.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong skills in data management and statistical analysis, particularly with tools such as R, Python, and Stata. Familiarity with databases, especially SQL Server, is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience in project management and policy discussions, as well as a solid understanding of WFP's vulnerability mapping systems and emergency assessment standards. Previous experience with UN agencies and in public health, food security, or nutrition-related activities is highly desirable. The ability to analyze local political situations and assess risks accurately is also important for this role.

Educational Background:
A minimum of secondary school education is required, with a first-level university degree or an advanced degree in economics, statistics, or a related field being advantageous. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for the analytical and technical skills required for the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of six years of professional experience in data analysis, database development/management, or a closely related area. This experience should demonstrate a strong ability to manage data effectively and contribute to the design and implementation of data-driven projects.

Languages:
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Filipino are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a Service Contract with a duration of twelve months, with the possibility of extension. It is open exclusively to Filipino nationals. The monthly salary starts at approximately PHP 69,000.00, with additional medical coverage extendable to eligible dependents, leave benefits, and other applicable entitlements.
