Job Overview:
The Director position is a senior role within the Workplace Management and Hospitality Division (CSWH) of the Corporate Services Department (CSD) at ADB. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Division's program, which encompasses service excellence in facilities operations and maintenance, project management, space planning, and hospitality services. The Director will manage budgets and resources to align with CSD's operational goals and provide strategic direction on complex operational matters. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that the Division delivers reliable and safe workplace environments across all ADB facilities. The Director will also oversee the planning, implementation, and supervision of both annual and long-term strategic and operational work programs, ensuring that outputs are in line with CSD and institutional priorities. The position demands strong leadership skills to guide a diverse team and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: leading the planning and implementation of the Division's strategic and operational work programs; overseeing day-to-day operations such as compliance, quality control, budgeting, HR management, and staff development; providing strategic leadership on policy and operational matters; implementing governance frameworks for workplans, budgets, projects, and sustainability programs; directing the delivery of hard facilities services, including preventive maintenance and operations of critical building systems; managing soft facilities services such as cleaning and landscaping; leading capital expenditure (CAPEX) and lifecycle projects for ADB Headquarters; overseeing workplace and space management; enhancing hospitality services; and promoting a culture of performance monitoring and coaching among staff.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or equivalent in business management, engineering, architecture, facilities management, or a related field. Alternatively, a university degree in a relevant field combined with at least 10 years of specialized experience may be considered. Additionally, candidates should have at least 15 years of relevant experience in facilities operations, workplace management, engineering services, or a corporate setting at progressively senior levels. International experience working in multiple countries is essential, along with a proven track record in managing large-scale operations and maintenance functions, capital renewal projects, and workplace transformation programs. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in overseeing major capital and construction projects and possess strong analytical and tactical skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's Degree or equivalent in fields such as business management, engineering, architecture, or facilities management. A university degree in a relevant field may also be acceptable if accompanied by significant specialized experience. The emphasis is on advanced education that equips candidates with the necessary skills to manage complex facilities and operational challenges effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in facilities operations, workplace management, engineering services, or a corporate environment, with a focus on progressively senior roles. Candidates should have substantial experience in managing both hard and soft facilities services, as well as engineering operations and building systems. Experience in international settings and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is mandatory for this position. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to a diverse audience. While English is the primary language required, proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of ADB's diverse member countries.

Additional Notes:
This appointment is open to both internal and external applicants and is a fixed-term managerial position for an initial period of 3 years, or until the Staff's Normal Retirement Date (NRD), whichever comes first. ADB may choose to renew the appointment for an additional fixed term of up to 3 years based on various factors, including the relevance of the staff's skills to ADB's medium- to long-term plans. The position is not convertible to a regular appointment.
