Job Overview: In this position, the Programme Support Associate will provide specialized program support and coordination for the WFP/FAO demining and livelihoods project. This role involves daily follow-up on project activities, contributing to regular reporting, monitoring, and evaluation efforts. The associate will support the Project Manager and Mine Action Unit, enhancing internal and external coordination, and managing engagement with governmental bodies, UN partners, and national counterparts. The position is crucial in ensuring effective humanitarian assistance reaches those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, particularly in light of the war's impact on security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security and livelihoods.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Support Associate include:
Providing specialized programmatic support for the WFP/FAO project on mine action and livelihoods.
Managing the daily, weekly, and monthly agenda for the project team, arranging meetings and appointments.
Preparing and disseminating correspondence, memos, and forms.
Liaising with internal and external counterparts, maintaining effective collaboration with government authorities and UN partners.
Assisting the project manager in planning, monitoring, and translation during meetings.
Supporting the preparation of project events and governance meetings, including project board and donor meetings.
Preparing comprehensive reports, documentation, and briefing notes for informed decision-making.
Supporting procurement procedures related to project activities.
Identifying and managing potential partnerships for collaborative work. 1
Assisting with data management and storage of files and communication materials. 1
Supporting travel and mission arrangements for team members. 1
Performing other related tasks as required.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Programme Support Associate position include:
Six or more years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in international humanitarian NGOs, civil service, government, or similar organizations.
Post-secondary education can compensate for some years of experience, with specific combinations of education and experience considered eligible.
Educational Background: Candidates should have completed secondary school education, with a preference for those holding a post-secondary certificate in relevant fields such as international relations, political/social science, security management, business administration, economics, or management. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the specific challenges faced in the context of mine action and livelihoods.
Experience: Candidates should possess six or more years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in international humanitarian NGOs, civil service, government, or similar organizations. Experience in project management, coordination, and administrative support is crucial. Additionally, candidates with a combination of a Master’s Degree and three years of work experience or a Bachelor’s Degree with four years of work experience will also be considered eligible, highlighting the importance of both education and practical experience in this role.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position, with a proficiency level of C. This language requirement is critical for effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders, including government authorities and UN partners. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The position is offered under a Service Contract for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal. It is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and offers a competitive salary along with various benefits, including pension contributions, medical insurance, annual leave, and parental leave. The role allows for one day of remote working per week within the duty station, subject to conditions.
