Job Overview: The Reporting and Fundraising Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Partnerships & Resource Mobilization Specialist. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and timely submission of donor reports, maintaining coherence between financial and narrative data, and adhering to specific donor requirements. The officer will also support the management of partnerships and resource mobilization efforts, including tracking grant agreements and funding deadlines, preparing strategic notes and analyses, and contributing to the development of funding proposals and partnership agreements. The position requires a proactive approach to enhancing the internal capacities of program sections in report writing and proposal development, ensuring that all outputs meet UNICEF's high standards. The officer will also play a key role in ensuring the visibility of partners and recognizing their contributions through effective communication strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the quality and monitoring of donor reports: a) Assist in the planning, reviewing, and timely submission of donor reports, ensuring content quality, coherence between financial and narrative data, and compliance with specific donor requirements. b) Ensure all submitted reports are recorded promptly in the appropriate internal system with necessary approvals. c) Contribute to capacity building of program colleagues in quality report writing.
Support partnership management and resource mobilization: a) Track grant agreements and funding deadlines in coordination with relevant program sections, proactively signaling grant end dates to optimize fund utilization. b) Contribute to the preparation of strategic notes and analyses to guide resource mobilization efforts, including identifying opportunities and risks related to partnerships. c) Assist in preparing briefings and positioning documents for the Representative and Deputy Representative ahead of meetings with partners. d) Participate in the documentation management of partnerships (recording and archiving key documents, tracking correspondence, updating tracking files, etc.). e) Stay informed about international aid trends and contribute to strategic monitoring of potential opportunities. f) Develop minutes from partnership-related meetings.
Support the development of funding proposals and partnership agreements: a) Assist in consolidating funding proposals, concept notes, and others in coordination with technical sections, ensuring quality before submission to the Deputy Representative for validation. b) Support the review and proofreading of funding agreements to ensure compliance with UNICEF guidelines and assist in their transmission for validation at the regional or headquarters level if necessary. c) Contribute to improving internal capacities of program sections on quality proposal writing.
Support partner visibility and recognition of contributions: a) Assist in coordinating between program and communication sections to ensure compliance with donor visibility requirements. b) Participate in producing communication materials for recognizing partner contributions (logos, stories, photos, visibility reports, etc.) and regularly share these products with donors. Additionally, UN Volunteers are expected to: • Enhance their understanding of the concept of volunteering by reading provided documentation, participating in activities, and engaging in commemorative events such as International Volunteer Day. • Familiarize themselves with and develop any form of traditional and/or local volunteering in the host country. • Reflect the type and nature of voluntary actions undertaken, including participation in substantive reflections. • Contribute to writing articles on field experiences for publication in UNV programs, websites, newsletters, and press releases. • Assist in welcoming newly arrived UN Volunteers in the host country. • Promote or advise local groups on utilizing online volunteers or encourage individuals and organizations to use online volunteer services when technically feasible.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and writing skills, with a proven ability to produce high-quality reports and proposals. They should demonstrate a solid understanding of donor requirements and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. The candidate should also have experience in partnership management and resource mobilization, with a focus on building relationships with various stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure are essential. The candidate should be proactive, adaptable, and willing to learn new skills and stay updated on developments in their area of expertise.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of international development and the specific challenges faced in the context of Niger.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in report writing, partnership management, or resource mobilization within an international organization or NGO. Experience working in a developing country context, particularly in West Africa, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNICEF's operations and guidelines will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the working language in Niger. Proficiency in English is highly desirable, and knowledge of local languages would be an advantage, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Niamey, Niger, and may involve travel to other regions within the country. Given the current security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security situation, it is imperative for all UN Volunteers to familiarize themselves with security guidelines and the situation in the country. Volunteers should be aware of exposure to certain tropical diseases, and vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory for entry into Niger. Other required vaccinations include hepatitis A, B, and tetanus. All UN Volunteers have 24/7 access to medical services. Various mobile phone companies operate in Niger, providing extensive coverage.
