Job Overview:
The WPS National Analyst position is crucial for providing programmatic and analytical support to the effective management of UN Women’s Women, Peace and Security (WPS) portfolio in the Sudan Country Office. The Analyst will contribute to the design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of programs aimed at enhancing women's participation and influence in peace, politics, and decision-making processes. This role involves analyzing results achieved during program implementation, contributing to evidence-based programming, and ensuring the effective application of systems and procedures. The Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including program and operations teams, UN Women HQ staff, government counterparts, multi- and bilateral donors, and civil society partners, to support effective program implementation and coordination. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying challenges and opportunities within the WPS framework and ensuring that women's voices are amplified in peace and political processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Programme formulation, implementation, and management: Contribute to the development of program strategies in the area of Women’s Peace and Security (WPS), providing inputs into the design and formulation of program/project proposals and initiatives. Support the implementation and daily management of the WPS program, including inputs to annual workplans and budgets, and coordination with implementing partners.
  • Monitoring, follow-up, and reporting: Contribute to monitoring and reporting on program/project activities, tracking progress against workplans and indicators, and ensuring timely submission of partner reports.
  • Partnerships and capacity building: Develop and strengthen partnerships with Women-Led Organizations (WLOs) and relevant networks, maintaining a database of engaged partners and providing technical support to strengthen proposals.
  • Coordination and program support: Coordinate calls for proposals, support inter-agency coordination processes, and assist in organizing program-related events and workshops.
  • Advocacy, knowledge management, and communication: Provide inputs to background documents and support advocacy initiatives and outreach activities.
  • Youth Engagement in WPS: Act as a focal point for youth engagement in WPS initiatives, promoting opportunities for youth participation in political processes. The incumbent may perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) is considered an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation skills, along with knowledge of Results Based Management and the ability to analyze data and present findings effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related area. Alternatively, a first-level university degree along with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification is also beneficial.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in program or project support, preferably in areas related to gender equality, women, peace and security, leadership, and governance. Candidates should have experience in program implementation, coordination, and partner engagement, as well as familiarity with civil society organizations, particularly women-led organizations. Experience in organizing training, workshops, or advocacy initiatives, and in monitoring program activities is essential. Experience in fragile, conflict, or humanitarian contexts is an asset, and familiarity with Women, Peace and Security (WPS) or women’s political participation is desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is required for this position, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
