Job Overview: The International GBV AoR Information Management Officer (IMO) plays a crucial role in supporting the UNFPA's Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR) in Sudan. This position is vital for ensuring a robust and well-functioning information management system for GBV response, which promotes the highest standards of ethical data management in line with global guidance. The IMO will lead the systematic, safe, and ethical collection, collation, storage, processing, verification, analysis, and dissemination of data related to GBV and the sectoral response. This role requires a strong focus on evidence-based decision-making to enhance GBV programming and coordination efforts. The IMO will also provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to strengthen the national GBV information management capacity, ensuring that the data collected is used effectively to inform strategic and programmatic decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The IMO will be responsible for developing and updating the information management strategy for the GBV AoR, which includes defining how data is collected, collated, analyzed, and shared while adhering to ethical and safety standards. The officer will conduct mapping of all actors involved in GBV prevention and response, analyze service mapping data to identify gaps, and manage information flows to ensure timely dissemination of relevant data. The IMO will represent the GBV AoR in various working groups, support capacity building among partners, and contribute to advocacy and communication materials. Additionally, the officer will engage in needs analysis, strategic decision-making, response monitoring, and reporting to ensure effective program implementation and evaluation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in computer/data science, statistics, GIS, demography, economics, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in information management, analysis, and needs assessments is required. Demonstrable experience in Gender-Based Violence Information Management linked to sub-sector coordination is essential. Candidates should have a strong understanding of global tools and guidance on GBV Information Management, as well as proficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis and visualization methods. Excellent communication, training, and mentoring skills are also necessary to effectively engage with GBV and non-GBV specialists.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as computer/data science, statistics, GIS, demography, or economics is required. This educational background should be complemented by practical experience in information management and analysis, particularly in the context of gender-based violence.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in information management, analysis, and needs assessments. Candidates should have a proven track record in Gender-Based Violence Information Management and an in-depth understanding of the challenges surrounding global tools and guidance on GBV Information Management. Experience in providing technical support and capacity building to partners is also essential.
Languages: Proficiency in both oral and written English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication and collaboration with local stakeholders and partners.
