Job Overview:
The Driver position at DRC involves the safe and reliable transportation of DRC staff and assets. The primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and operational condition of the vehicles used by DRC. The driver is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism while transporting authorized personnel and cargo to various destinations, which may include project sites and suppliers. This role is crucial in supporting the organization's mission to deliver humanitarian assistance effectively and efficiently. The driver must adhere to all safety protocols and demonstrate a commitment to the DRC Code of Conduct while representing the organization positively in the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for the following duties: transporting authorized DRC personnel on official duty and cargo to designated points; picking up and dropping off assigned users of the vehicle; ensuring the safety of passengers and their belongings during transit; assisting passengers with loading and unloading personal or official items; maintaining a vehicle logbook and obtaining passenger signatures for each trip; ensuring that the vehicle has a minimum of half a tank of fuel and refueling when necessary; keeping the vehicle clean and representative at all times, both inside and out; performing general checks on the vehicle, including engine oil, brake oil, tire pressure, and other essential fluids to ensure roadworthiness; conducting physical inspections of DRC-rented vehicles as requested by the fleet manager; providing assistance in procurement and supply requisitions for office and project equipment; delivering goods to and from project sites; and executing any other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor. The driver must also comply with national driving laws and represent DRC in a professional manner.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess proven driving experience in a similar role, demonstrating knowledge of the local area and technical expertise in basic vehicle repairs. Punctuality and adherence to rules and procedures are essential, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding work-related information. Knowledge of logistics and procurement processes is also required. Fluency in the local language is mandatory, and candidates should have a valid driving license, with a truck or bus driving license being advantageous if relevant to the position.

Educational Background:
The educational qualifications required for this position include a valid driving license. Candidates should also possess a truck or bus driving license if applicable to the role. This ensures that the driver is legally permitted to operate the vehicles required for the job and is familiar with the necessary regulations and safety standards.

Experience:

Additional Notes:
The position is offered as a national contract with a duration of 12 months. The salary range starts from USD 486.00 per month, and the duty station is located in Port Sudan at the Country Office. The start date for this position is as soon as possible.
