The intern will work under the supervision of the Partnerships Officer and the Communications Officer, contributing to the RCO's communications strategy and supporting the coordination and implementation of key activities. The role involves drafting and adapting content for digital platforms, organizing meetings and events, preparing presentations and communication materials, and maintaining databases. The intern will also engage in stakeholder mapping and identify collaboration opportunities with various partners, including government entities, civil society, and international organizations. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about international relations and development, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a UN setting.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Supporting the RCO’s communications strategy by drafting and adapting content for institutional digital platforms.
Assisting in the coordination and implementation of key RCO activities, such as organizing meetings, workshops, and events.
Preparing presentations, speeches, minutes, briefs, and other communication materials.
Maintaining and updating communications and partnerships databases and other key information resources.
Conducting stakeholder mapping and identifying potential collaboration opportunities with partners from various sectors.
Collecting and analyzing data related to partnerships and finance for development.
Assisting in the coordination of interagency groups and following up on agreements.
Participating in team meetings and contributing to other relevant activities of the RCO. The intern is expected to deliver timely and quality contributions to the RCO’s communications and partnerships activities, including drafting communication products and supporting the organization of meetings and events.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in International Relations, Communications, Political Science, or a related field. Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). Additionally, strong analytical skills and proficiency in MS tools, shared documents, and at least one data analysis or visualization tool (such as Power BI or Tableau) are desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, accessible products for non-technical audiences.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being currently enrolled in or having recently graduated from a relevant program in International Relations, Communications, Political Science, or a related field. Candidates must have completed at least the final academic year of a bachelor's degree or be enrolled in a graduate program. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of international development and the operations of the United Nations.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandated for this internship, candidates should possess strong analytical skills and familiarity with data analysis or visualization tools. Experience in drafting communication materials or engaging in stakeholder outreach would be beneficial.
