Job Overview: The Digital Innovation & Business Transformation Officer will play a critical role in supporting the Peruvian Government's efforts to reduce malnutrition and food insecurity among vulnerable populations through digital transformation initiatives. This position involves working closely with government counterparts to co-design, implement, and monitor projects that align with national strategies and the WFP Country Strategic Plan. The officer will be responsible for fostering multisectoral collaboration, ensuring the sustainability and impact of digital solutions, and driving innovation initiatives that deliver measurable results. This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate complex environments and engage various stakeholders, including government, private sector, and academia, to achieve common goals. The officer will also be tasked with developing capacity-building programs for public sector staff, focusing on enhancing digital skills and innovation management.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic advice tailored to the Government’s needs, facilitating collaboration among various sectors, and driving the digital innovation portfolio. Key responsibilities include leading the co-design of digital solutions, ensuring government ownership of these solutions, developing capacity-building programs, establishing KPIs and monitoring frameworks, and reporting on progress and challenges. The officer will also engage with legal authorities to ensure that all regulatory frameworks are in place and will be responsible for creating a strategic roadmap for digital transformation in Peru, including a portfolio of prioritized digital initiatives and a sustainability plan for long-term viability.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree or advanced university degree in business, innovation and technology management, international development, or related fields being desirable. A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible international experience in digital transformation, technology, or innovation leadership roles is required. Candidates should have experience managing digital innovation strategies, understanding funding models for digital solutions, and leading cross-functional teams. Strong conceptual, communication, and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to engage stakeholders and navigate diverse organizational dynamics.
Educational Background: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree as a minimum qualification, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree or an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as business, innovation and technology management, or international development. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of digital transformation and innovation management in a governmental context.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in international settings, specifically in roles focused on digital transformation, technology, or innovation. This experience should include exposure to both the private and public sectors, demonstrating a track record of managing impactful projects and leading teams in complex environments. Candidates should be adept at driving initiatives from ideation to implementation, particularly in governmental or large organizational contexts.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written English and Spanish is mandatory, with a level C proficiency required. Additionally, intermediate knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, or Russian, is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage in a multicultural work environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
