Job Overview: The position of National Consultant on Gender Equality/Trainer involves leading the development and delivery of a training module on the history and evolution of women’s rights in Georgia. This role is part of the Women’s Increased Leadership for Democracy in Georgia (WILD) project, which aims to promote women's leadership and advance gender equality as essential components of democracy and inclusive development. The consultant will design a module that explores feminist thought and women’s rights movements in Georgia, providing a comparative perspective with global developments. The consultant will work closely with UN Women to ensure that the training materials are relevant and effective, facilitating workshops that engage participants in discussions about historical milestones and contemporary gender inequalities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for several key tasks:
Conduct an initial alignment meeting with UN Women to confirm objectives, timeline, deliverables, and communication protocols.
Develop and submit Module 1 deliverables, including a syllabus, session-level lesson plans, facilitator scripts, and participant materials tailored to the Georgian context.
Incorporate feedback from UN Women to finalize training materials.
Coordinate with other trainers to ensure content synchronization and a cohesive learning experience.
Facilitate a one-day workshop/seminar aligned with the approved module, including interactive elements such as breakouts and live Q&A sessions.
Compile and submit post-session outputs, including an executive summary and evaluation summary.
Deliver an editable trainer’s package for the Leadership Academy training, covering the historical background of women’s rights in Georgia, with specific completion dates for deliverables.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master's degree or equivalent in Gender Studies, History, Social Sciences, Political Science, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with at least two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted. The consultant must have at least five years of professional experience in delivering adult learning/training and capacity-building programs focused on gender equality and women's rights, with a strong understanding of the local historical and political context. Additionally, experience in designing gender-responsive training materials and assessments that utilize adult learning principles is essential. Coordination, communication, and reporting experience, as well as experience working with UN agencies or international organizations, are considered assets.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Gender Studies, History, Social Sciences, Political Science, or a related discipline. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by sufficient professional experience, specifically at least two additional years of qualifying experience in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: The consultant should have a minimum of five years of professional experience in delivering training and capacity-building programs related to gender equality and women's rights. If the candidate holds a bachelor's degree, a total of seven years of experience is required. This experience should include designing training materials that are gender-responsive and incorporate adult learning principles, as well as a strong knowledge of the local context regarding gender issues.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial but is not explicitly required.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is home-based, but the consultant may need to travel outside of Tbilisi as part of their responsibilities.
