Job Overview: The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director (CD) position at SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in Afghanistan is a critical role aimed at strengthening SI's position as a leading actor in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives. The CD will oversee the implementation of programs that address water-related health risks, support crisis-affected communities, and promote hygiene practices. Duties and Responsibilities: The Country Director will be responsible for the following duties:
Oversee the implementation of ongoing projects in Afghanistan, ensuring that all activities align with SI's mission and objectives.
Manage and coordinate the national and international teams, providing leadership and support to ensure effective program delivery.
Engage in external coordination with donors, authorities, and other NGOs to foster collaboration and secure funding opportunities.
Address administrative challenges, including the timely signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for project implementation.
Promote the Women in WASH initiative, ensuring that gender considerations are integrated into all programming and management practices.
Monitor the security situation and adapt field activities accordingly, ensuring the safety of staff and beneficiaries.
Prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial accountability and transparency.
Represent SI at various forums and meetings, advocating for the organization's mission and objectives.
Conduct regular assessments of program quality and implement improvements as necessary. 1
Ensure compliance with SI's policies and procedures, particularly regarding safeguarding and ethical standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a License or Master's degree in a humanitarian field or related topics. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is required, with 0-2 years in a similar leadership position. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical skills in security liaison, negotiation with local authorities, and external representation. Additionally, candidates should have a solid understanding of administrative processes and budget management.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should hold a License or Master's degree in a relevant humanitarian field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and effectively managing programs in challenging environments.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on program management and coordination. Experience in a similar leadership role is preferred, ideally ranging from 0 to 2 years. This experience should include working in volatile security contexts and managing diverse teams.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Dari or Pashto, as well as French, is considered an asset and will enhance the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in the local context.

The role is based in Kabul, Afghanistan, where security constraints may limit movement. The salary for this position starts from EUR 3,740 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 600 is provided, along with accommodation costs and travel expenses. Expatriates will receive an insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. The living conditions include access to a guest house with individual bedrooms and shared facilities, as well as internet access.
