Job Overview:
The Social Media & Content Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing WFP Afghanistan’s online presence by collecting, creating, and curating engaging digital content for various social media platforms. This position requires a creative individual who can effectively manage social accounts and maintain a content calendar that aligns with organizational priorities. The specialist will report to the Communications Officer and will be part of the Partnerships, Communications, and Reporting Unit. The role demands proficiency in videography, photography, graphic design, and strong copywriting skills to produce multimedia content that resonates with audiences and showcases WFP's impact. The specialist will also be responsible for staying updated on social media trends and ensuring that all content adheres to WFP's branding and ethical guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Social Media & Content Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: capturing high-quality photos and videos from field locations and events to highlight WFP’s work; developing compelling case studies that showcase the organization’s impact; scripting, editing, and producing multimedia content tailored for social media platforms; creating content packages that meet donor requirements; collaborating with cross-functional teams to generate innovative content ideas; maintaining a content calendar that balances communications priorities and best practices; writing and scheduling daily social media posts for platforms like Twitter and Facebook; conducting social listening to monitor online conversations and measure engagement; developing visually appealing graphics that align with WFP branding; and designing infographics and visual assets for reports and presentations. The specialist will also be expected to ensure that all content adheres to WFP's ethical guidelines, particularly regarding the protection and dignity of beneficiaries.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, international relations, political science, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. The ideal candidate should have at least one year of postgraduate professional experience in social media content creation and platform management. A proven track record of managing social media for a large international non-profit organization is essential, along with excellent knowledge of major social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter. Familiarity with digital design and video editing tools, including Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects), is required, as well as strong creative copywriting skills and experience in content production.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as communications, marketing, journalism, international relations, or political science. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in these fields will also be considered if they have two additional years of relevant professional experience. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and the nuances of social media management in a humanitarian context.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of postgraduate professional experience in social media content creation and platform management. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to produce engaging content that aligns with organizational goals and resonates with diverse audiences. Experience in managing social media accounts for large international organizations, particularly in the non-profit sector, is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should have a portfolio showcasing their digital visual asset creation, including photography and videography.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in local languages such as Pashto and Dari.
