Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer – Nutrition Programme Implementation role is crucial for supporting UNICEF's nutrition initiatives in the NTT province of Indonesia. The volunteer will work under the supervision of the Nutrition Officer based in the Kupang Field Office, contributing to the implementation and monitoring of UNICEF's nutrition programs. This includes focusing on four key pillars: maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN), school-age and adolescent nutrition, food systems, and the integrated management of acute malnutrition (IMAM). The volunteer will engage in program planning, field assessments, and coordination with government counterparts and partners to ensure effective delivery of nutrition services. The role requires a proactive approach to identify challenges in program implementation and develop practical solutions. The volunteer will also support evidence generation and advocacy efforts to enhance the impact of UNICEF's nutrition interventions, ensuring that the rights and needs of children and adolescents are prioritized in all activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UN Volunteer include:
  • Supporting the implementation and field-level follow-up of UNICEF’s nutrition program in NTT province, focusing on the four nutrition program pillars.
  • Assisting in program planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination by organizing consultations and meetings with government counterparts and partners.
  • Participating in monitoring activities and conducting regular field visits to assess program progress and provide technical support.
  • Identifying implementation bottlenecks, risks, and operational challenges, and contributing to timely solutions.
  • Providing hands-on technical and operational support to government counterparts and civil society organizations throughout the programming process.
  • Executing program transactions, preparing documentation, and supporting results-based management and monitoring and evaluation efforts.
  • Supporting evidence generation and development of strategies through analysis of the nutrition situation in NTT.
  • Contributing to advocacy, knowledge management, and documentation of program results.
  • Preparing regular field visit reports and analytical briefs summarizing the nutrition situation in NTT. 1
  • Engaging in additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor to strengthen UNICEF's nutrition program delivery.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the UN Volunteer position should possess a strong understanding of nutrition and public health principles, particularly as they relate to children and adolescents. They should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and community members. Strong analytical skills and the ability to generate evidence-based recommendations are essential. Educational Background:

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in nutrition program implementation, monitoring, or evaluation, preferably in a development or humanitarian context. Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or international organizations in Indonesia or similar settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNICEF's procedures and systems will be an advantage, as will experience in conducting field assessments and engaging with community stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is mandatory, as it is the primary language spoken in the region. Proficiency in English is also required, particularly for documentation and communication with international stakeholders. Knowledge of local dialects or languages may be beneficial for community engagement.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Kupang, NTT Province. The contract duration is subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance, with no expectation of renewal. The volunteer is responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. A monthly Volunteer Living Allowance will be provided to cover housing, utilities, and living expenses. Health insurance for the volunteer and up to three dependents is included, along with a resettlement allowance for satisfactory service. The living conditions in Kupang are relatively developed compared to other areas in NTT, with access to basic services and amenities.
