Job Overview:
The position involves recruiting 500 experienced and creative online volunteers to support WHO's communication team in developing a digital campaign aimed at raising awareness about the benefits of vaccines and the importance of preventive vaccination to combat infectious diseases. The volunteers will play a crucial role in disseminating awareness messages, informing the public about vaccination importance, and combating misinformation on social media. This initiative is part of the African Vaccination Week, which aims to improve vaccination coverage in Niger, where health challenges persist due to recurrent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. The campaign seeks to mobilize a large number of volunteers to ensure broader and more effective vaccination coverage across the country, with the support of the Ministry of Health.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the communication team to develop engaging content for social media platforms that promotes vaccination awareness.
  • Disseminate information about the importance of vaccines and preventive measures against infectious diseases.
  • Engage with the community through social media to answer questions and provide accurate information regarding vaccinations.
  • Monitor social media channels for misinformation and respond appropriately to counter false narratives.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of online events or webinars related to vaccination awareness.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving the campaign based on community engagement and responses.
  • Work collaboratively with other volunteers and stakeholders to maximize outreach and impact.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in digital communication, social media management, or public health advocacy.
  • Strong creative skills to develop engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a virtual environment.
  • Familiarity with public health issues, particularly vaccination and infectious diseases.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in relevant languages.

Educational Background:
A background in public health, communications, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications or training in health communication or community engagement will be considered favorably.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in volunteer work, particularly in health-related campaigns or community outreach initiatives. Experience in managing social media campaigns or working with non-profit organizations is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Niger. Proficiency in English or local languages would be an asset, enhancing the ability to engage with diverse communities.
