Job Overview:
The National Consultant position at UN Women India involves coordinating and managing partnerships, outreach, and engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders, including private-sector companies, industry associations, and government departments. The consultant will facilitate the effective functioning of the Un-Stereotype Alliance India Chapter and support the advancement of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). This role requires comprehensive coordination and management support to ensure the successful implementation of activities across both the Un-Stereotype Alliance and WEPs workstreams. The consultant will work under the supervision of the UN Women Programme Officer and will be responsible for research, management, and coordination support to implement the India Chapter of the Un-Stereotype Alliance and advance WEPs engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Private Sector Engagement & Partnerships: Lead outreach and engagement with private-sector companies and industry associations to strengthen participation in the Un-Stereotype Alliance and expand WEPs signatories. Facilitate meetings and events, ensure follow-up with partners, and identify opportunities for joint initiatives.
  • Programme Coordination & Implementation: Support planning and delivery of activities in coordination with relevant UN Women programme units. Liaise with global networks to access best practices and monitor progress.
  • Content, Capacity Building & Due Diligence: Prepare research-based briefing notes and documentation. Support capacity-building initiatives and due-diligence processes in line with UN Women standards.
  • Operations, Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain updated partner databases, track deliverables, and submit monthly progress reports. Deliverables include developing an annual workplan, facilitating stakeholder engagements, strengthening partnerships, supporting capacity-building sessions, and maintaining databases.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master’s degree in marketing, media & communications, business administration, international relations, or related fields. A graduate degree in the mentioned fields with at least 7 years of relevant experience is also acceptable. Candidates should have strong written skills in English and a good command of Hindi. Knowledge of client management, partnerships, and current gender-related issues is desirable. Experience in advertising, communications, and marketing, particularly in programme management and strategy, is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in one or more of the following disciplines: marketing, media & communications, business administration, international relations, or other related fields. A graduate degree in the aforementioned fields with 7 years of relevant experience is also acceptable.

Experience:
At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the advertising, communications, and marketing industry is required, preferably in programme management and strategy. Experience in digital communications is desired, along with knowledge of client management and partnerships. Familiarity with gender-related issues, research, and women’s empowerment is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate experience in basic research, financial management, and programme implementation, including operational and administrative support.

Languages:
Strong written skills in English are mandatory, and a good command of Hindi is required as a medium of communication. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not specified as mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The position is a consultancy role, and the consultant is expected to use their own computer equipment as the office will not provide any. The evaluation and selection process will include criteria such as required degree and qualifications, relevant expertise and experience, and an interview. Selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks, including verification of academic credentials and employment history.
