Job Overview:
The Graphic Designer position is part of the Marketing & Mobilization (M&M) team within the External Relations (ER) department of the IRC. This dynamic role is crucial for producing high-quality donor-facing materials that effectively communicate the IRC's humanitarian impact. The designer will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Strategy Unit and program teams, to create compelling presentations, reports, and proposals that resonate with potential donors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in graphic design, particularly in creating visually engaging content that translates complex data and narratives into clear and persuasive communications. This role is essential for supporting the IRC's Impact at Scale initiatives and enhancing donor engagement through visually appealing and informative materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Designing and producing executive-ready presentation decks using PowerPoint and/or Google Slides that align with IRC brand guidelines.
  • Developing scalable deck templates and systems for easy adaptation across teams.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to clarify goals, audience needs, and key messages, refining content structure for clarity and emphasis.
  • Translating complex data and technical concepts into logical, digestible visual flows.
  • Designing and laying out high-quality impact reports, funding propositions, and donor collateral in Adobe InDesign.
  • Building and maintaining paragraph and character styles, master pages, and grid systems to ensure typographic consistency.
  • Producing print-ready and digital PDF outputs optimized for various distribution contexts.
  • Transforming raw data into clear charts, diagrams, and infographics that communicate impact metrics effectively.
  • Partnering with the Creative Studio team and front-line fundraisers on bespoke high-value donor projects. 1
  • Managing multiple concurrent projects with tight deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • 4–5+ years of professional graphic design experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing print and digital publication work.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe InDesign, including experience with master pages, paragraph/character styles, and grid-based layout systems.
  • Strong command of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Demonstrated experience designing presentation decks in PowerPoint and/or Google Slides.
  • Exceptional typographic skills and a meticulous eye for layout hierarchy, spacing, and detail.
  • Experience creating data visualizations and infographics that clearly communicate complex information.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • A passion for the IRC’s mission and a commitment to humanitarian work.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a strong foundation in design principles and practices, as well as a solid understanding of branding and marketing strategies. Additional certifications or coursework in areas such as data visualization or user experience design may be beneficial.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 to 5 years of professional graphic design experience. Candidates should have a proven track record of producing high-quality design work in both print and digital formats. Experience in the nonprofit or humanitarian sector is highly desirable, as it demonstrates an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within this field.

Languages:
While there are no specific language requirements for this position, proficiency in English is mandatory due to the nature of the work and the need to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly in languages relevant to the IRC's operational regions.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time position that may allow for remote work, either full-time or part-time. Applicants must have a suitable home or alternate workspace to effectively complete their work during regular hours. The compensation for this role ranges from $73,000 to $85,000, depending on various factors such as the labor market, job type, and individual candidate experience.
