Job Overview: The position of Adaptation & Resilience Consultant is critical as the CIF’s adaptation and resilience portfolio is rapidly expanding due to increasing climate risks and global demand for scalable solutions. The consultant will provide dedicated technical and analytical support to the Head of Adaptation and Resilience, which is essential for strengthening program delivery, enhancing partner engagement, and advancing knowledge and learning across CIF’s resilience initiatives. The consultant will be involved in key programs such as the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) and the newly launched ARISE initiative, which has received significant funding to support resilience investments. The role requires a proactive approach to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, implementation, and knowledge generation, ensuring that CIF’s resilience work aligns with its policies and objectives while effectively addressing the needs of developing countries.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a variety of duties including:
Providing technical inputs to the design and implementation of CIF adaptation and resilience programs, ensuring they align with CIF’s policies and objectives.
Reviewing and ensuring quality assurance on MDB concept notes, program documentation, and project submissions related to adaptation and resilience.
Developing knowledge products such as briefs, learning notes, and case studies that capture lessons learned from CIF programs and advance understanding of effective resilience approaches.
Supporting the organization of learning events, workshops, and peer exchanges to share insights across CIF’s partner network.
Conducting analytical and advisory work on adaptation finance, including policies and mechanisms for mobilizing public and private investment for resilience.
Engaging with CIF partner MDBs, recipient country governments, civil society, and other stakeholders on resilience programming and learning.
Coordinating with relevant CIF program and thematic teams to ensure coherence across resilience-related knowledge and policy activities.
Performing other tasks as assigned by the Head of Adaptation and Resilience.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master’s degree in international development, climate change, environmental policy, economics, or a related field. Additionally, candidates must have at least five years of relevant professional experience in climate change adaptation, resilience, or related fields, including both policy and operational dimensions. Experience working with or supporting multilateral development banks, international climate funds, or comparable international development institutions is essential. Strong analytical skills are necessary, along with the ability to research, synthesize, and communicate complex information clearly. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory, and candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a collaborative, multicultural environment.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, climate change, environmental policy, or economics. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of climate finance and adaptation strategies.
Experience: The role requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in climate change adaptation, resilience, or related fields. This experience should encompass both policy and operational aspects, demonstrating the candidate's ability to navigate the complexities of international development and climate finance.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English, with excellent written and oral communication skills required. While not mandatory, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it enhances communication with diverse stakeholders.
