Job Overview:
The Shelter Officer will play a crucial role in the implementation of emergency shelter construction and rehabilitation activities in Aweil East County. This position requires providing day-to-day technical guidance and supervision to ensure that project activities are executed effectively. The Shelter Officer will be responsible for developing technical designs, preparing documentation, and supervising the construction of emergency shelters. This role also involves collaborating with other project officers and assistants to ensure the timely delivery of quality shelter programs. The Shelter Officer will assist in the overall planning and design of future projects, ensuring that the shelter programming aligns with NRC's mission and objectives. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Shelter Officer's duties include providing technical guidance and supervision for emergency shelter construction and rehabilitation activities. Responsibilities encompass the implementation of project activities, including the development of technical designs and drawings, quantity surveying, and supervising the work of contractors and project participants. The Shelter Officer will conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards, manage documentation related to rehabilitation projects, and maintain communication with various stakeholders. Required Qualifications:

Experience in implementing WASH and shelter projects is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to work in complex and volatile environments. Candidates should have documented results related to the responsibilities of the position and possess strong leadership skills. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum first-level university diploma in an engineering field or a related vocational qualification. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the technical aspects of shelter construction and rehabilitation, as well as for developing the necessary designs and documentation for project implementation.

Experience:
The Shelter Officer should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience working in humanitarian or recovery contexts, with specific experience in construction interventions. Candidates should also have a proven track record of working in complex and volatile contexts, demonstrating the ability to adapt and respond to challenging situations effectively.

Languages:

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role with a contract duration of 6 months. The Shelter Officer will be based in Aweil East, South Sudan, and will be required to travel within the region as needed.
