Job Overview: The Online UN Volunteer position focuses on enhancing the knowledge management approach of the Digital Solutions Lab by improving the structure, content, and usability of its SharePoint page. The volunteer will engage in a comprehensive review of the existing SharePoint page, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. The role requires the volunteer to propose a revised knowledge management strategy and information architecture that aligns with the UN 2.0 vision and its Quintet of Change, which emphasizes data, digital innovation, foresight, and behavioral science. The assignment is structured in three phases: conducting a diagnostic review of the current SharePoint page, developing a proposal for a revised structure, and curating content to populate the new layout. The volunteer will also support the implementation of the approved structure, ensuring that the SharePoint page is user-centered and future-ready, facilitating learning, collaboration, and discovery of digital resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough review and diagnostic assessment of the existing SharePoint page, evaluating its structure, content, usability, and alignment with user needs and UN 2.0 priorities.
Develop a proposal for a revised SharePoint page structure, including recommended fields/sections, navigation logic, and detailed descriptions of content for each section.
Create a short knowledge management strategy that outlines the purpose, target audiences, and guiding principles for the SharePoint page.
Compile and curate relevant content to populate the proposed structure, synthesizing research and frameworks on artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
Identify and organize learning resources such as trainings, podcasts, and talks, ensuring that the content is concise, relevant, and clearly tagged for easy access.
Support the update of the SharePoint page in accordance with the approved structure, applying basic web and content design principles to enhance readability and navigation.
Document the process and provide clear guidelines for future updates to ensure sustainability of the SharePoint page.
Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of knowledge management principles and practices, particularly in the context of digital solutions.
Proficiency in SharePoint and experience with content management systems.
Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable content.
Familiarity with artificial intelligence and digital innovation concepts, as well as experience in curating educational resources.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment, demonstrating self-motivation and time management skills.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as information management, communications, digital media, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree or equivalent experience in knowledge management or digital solutions would be an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in knowledge management, content design, or digital solutions is required. Experience working with international organizations or in a UN context is highly desirable. Familiarity with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda is a plus.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional UN languages (such as French, Spanish, or Arabic) would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with a broader range of stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a remote volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment is flexible. The role is designed to be part-time, allowing for a balance with other commitments.
