Job Overview: The Humanitarian Affairs Expert will play a crucial role in monitoring sanctions measures and investigating alleged violations related to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This position requires the expert to contribute to the preparation of investigative reports and recommendations based on thorough investigations, country visits, and outreach activities. The expert will also be responsible for compiling information on individuals and entities potentially involved in sanctions violations, preparing briefings, and monitoring media coverage relevant to the Group's mandate. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Humanitarian Affairs Expert include:
Contributing to the monitoring of sanctions measures and investigating alleged violations as mandated by Security Council resolutions related to the DRC.
Participating in investigations of alleged sanctions violations and contributing to the preparation of investigative reports, midterm and final reports to the Security Council.
Compiling information on individuals and entities that may engage in sanctions violations.
Preparing and delivering briefings and presentations on the sanctions regime and the Group's activities.
Monitoring media, including social media, for issues relevant to the Group's mandate.
Assisting in identifying areas where the capacities of States can be strengthened for better sanctions implementation.
Contributing to reports that adhere to high standards of evidence and methodology.
Ensuring due process for Member States and individuals during investigations.
Participating in investigative missions and consultations to gather information from various stakeholders. 1

Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Humanitarian Affairs Expert position include:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, political science, international relations, or a relevant technical field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in the relevant area, including at least three years of field experience.
Significant field experience in post-conflict or transitional situations.
Strong field research or investigative experience in the area of expertise.
Experience in writing high-quality reports.
Proven interpersonal skills in complex political environments.
A demonstrated understanding of sanctions regimes in a United Nations or regional organization context.
Experience working under the rules and regulations of the United Nations is highly desirable.

Additional Notes: The position is home-based with an expected duration of 12 months.
