Job Overview:
The Ethics Specialist plays a crucial role in leading the implementation of UN Women's ethics function. This position involves providing professional advice and guidance on ethical standards, developing and delivering ethics training, and managing the Financial Disclosure Programme. The Ethics Specialist will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with UN Women's ethics framework and integrity policies. The role requires a strong understanding of ethical dilemmas and the ability to analyze complex situations to provide effective solutions. The incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring ethics case trends and developing strategies to mitigate risks associated with ethical issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Ethics Specialist's duties include providing ethics advice and guidance to personnel, analyzing ethical dilemmas, and ensuring compliance with UN Women's values. The incumbent will manage the Financial Disclosure Programme, administer the policy on Protection from Retaliation, and lead the implementation of ethics training and outreach programs. Additionally, the Ethics Specialist will contribute to policy development, prepare annual reports on ethics activities, and maintain confidential records of guidance provided. The role also involves identifying and mitigating ethics-related risks and developing ethics guidance bulletins to support policy development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in Law, Ethics, International Affairs, Communications, Corporate Compliance, Human Resources Management, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The position requires at least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in organizational ethics, compliance, legal, governance, or related areas. Experience in providing professional advice on ethics standards, designing and delivering ethics training, and using office software and web-based management systems is essential.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Law, Ethics, International Affairs, or Human Resources Management is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be considered. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of ethics and compliance within an international organization.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in areas related to organizational ethics, compliance, legal frameworks, or governance. Candidates should have experience in providing definitive professional advice on ethics standards and practices, as well as in designing and delivering ethics training and outreach activities. Familiarity with web-based management systems and office software is also necessary, with preference given to those with experience in the UN or similar international organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable and would be considered an asset in the recruitment process.
