The role is designed to support the UN's Creative Community Outreach Initiative (CCOI) and the Messenger of Peace (MOP) Programme. The CCOI focuses on fostering partnerships with the global entertainment industry, including film, television, and music, while the MOP Programme coordinates advocacy efforts by UN Messengers of Peace. Interns will engage in a variety of tasks that contribute to the UN's outreach efforts, including project support, social media monitoring, event planning, and content creation. This full-time, unpaid internship is an opportunity for candidates to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic international environment, working closely with experienced professionals in the field of global communications and advocacy.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to: providing support for projects with external partners in the entertainment and sports industries, drafting background materials, taking meeting notes, and assisting with monitoring and reporting on social media activities related to the Messengers of Peace. They will also help organize special events and in-person activities at UN Headquarters, draft and edit communications materials such as concept notes and press releases, and support the processing of applications for the Football for the Goals membership. Interns will work under the supervision of a staff member and are expected to contribute actively to the team's objectives.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in or have completed the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's application.
Additional Notes: This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week over a six-month period. Interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. The UN does not charge any fees during the recruitment process, and candidates must ensure they have the appropriate visa status to undertake the internship. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States may need to obtain a G-4 visa or ensure they have valid employment authorization.
