Job Overview:
The position of Software Application Developer at UNICEF Venezuela is crucial for the implementation of a new initiative aimed at automating and simplifying processes related to programmatic information management. The role involves developing software applications tailored to the needs of the UNICEF office, ensuring that data from various sources is interconnected and easily accessible. This is particularly important for enhancing decision-making processes within the organization, especially in the context of the 2023-2026 Country Program. The developer will work closely with the ICT specialist and other team members to create applications that facilitate the analysis of program performance and improve transparency and efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Software Application Developer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Develop software applications that meet the automation and simplification needs of UNICEF's programs, in close coordination with the conceptual design team.
  • Utilize organizational tools such as Microsoft Power Platform and Office 365 for application development.
  • Maintain existing software applications and develop new functionalities as required.
  • Transfer knowledge to full-time staff in the ICT section through training, documentation, and collaborative implementations.
  • Provide technical support to ensure effective use of software applications by program users and senior management.
  • Assist users with software application issues at levels one and two.
  • Support the documentation process for end-users of the developed software applications.
  • Design and implement a training plan for end-users on the developed software applications. Expected results include the development of at least three software applications, comprehensive documentation for each application, and at least two training sessions related to the developed software products.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong programming skills and experience in software development, particularly with tools like Microsoft Power Platform. They should have a solid understanding of data management and automation processes, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, including professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in software development, with a proven track record of creating applications that enhance organizational efficiency. Experience working in international organizations or NGOs is preferred, particularly in contexts similar to UNICEF's mission.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the office. Proficiency in English is considered a valuable asset, as it may facilitate communication with international teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Caracas, Venezuela, and offers a monthly sustenance allowance of 1299 USD, along with a pre-assignment allowance and a final assignment allowance upon contract completion, provided conditions are met. The role includes medical, dental, and hospital assistance insurance, as well as life and disability insurance. The position is full-time and may involve collaboration with international teams.
