Job Overview:
The UNV Expert in Monitoring, Reporting and Intervention during Emergencies will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's Disaster Risk Reduction and Preparedness program for the period 2024-202
  • This position involves enhancing the resilience of vulnerable populations, particularly children, adolescents, and women, by strengthening preparedness and response capabilities. The expert will work at three geographical levels: national, subnational in coordination with state governments, and community levels in prioritized municipalities and parishes. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the program's actions, contributing to the overall mission of UNICEF in promoting children's rights and welfare.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UNV Expert will be responsible for a range of tasks, including:
  • Supporting the development of activities in their coverage area, ensuring close coordination with the Emergency Chief, Emergency Officer, and field office heads.
  • Monitoring and analyzing threats affecting the country, including socio-natural and anthropogenic risks.
  • Conducting real-time monitoring of key threats through official reports and secondary sources.
  • Developing risk maps and modeling potential impact scenarios.
  • Monitoring the execution of emergency response plans in collaboration with program sections and local emergency focal points.
  • Assisting field colleagues in monitoring project activities.
  • Preparing bulletins, infographics, and technical reports to document the evolution of threats.
  • Compiling situation reports that analyze needs during emergencies and document UNICEF's interventions.
  • Conducting field missions for initial information gathering and needs analysis. 1
  • Participating in coordination meetings with local forums and government entities. 1

  • Supervising training processes at national, regional, and community levels. 1

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and monitoring skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams. Educational Background:

Experience:

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, while proficiency in English is considered an asset. Knowledge of other local languages may also be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
This position is a volunteer role under the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program. The monthly allowance is 1819 USD, along with a pre-assignment allowance and a final assignment allowance upon contract completion, subject to conditions. Volunteers will receive medical, dental, and hospital insurance, as well as life and disability insurance. The role includes vacation, leave, and permits as per UNV service conditions.
