Job Overview:
The Economic Recovery Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of DRC’s Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) program in Gusau, Zamfara State. This position involves liaising with various stakeholders and coordinating with different departments to enhance beneficiaries' livelihoods. The officer will be responsible for providing information, cash assistance, and complementary nutrition activities to those in need. The role requires a strong understanding of the local context, particularly the challenges faced by displaced populations in Nigeria, and the ability to design and implement effective programs that address these challenges. The Economic Recovery Officer will work closely with the Economic Recovery Team Leader to ensure that all activities align with DRC's strategic priorities and adhere to the organization's standards of protection and accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Economic Recovery Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: supporting the implementation of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) and Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) programs; screening, selecting, and verifying beneficiaries according to project criteria; managing cash distribution processes while ensuring safety and accountability; monitoring market prices to inform transfer values; providing guidance on security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security and nutrition; conducting training on complementary nutrition practices; supervising nutrition activities and community volunteers; coordinating logistics for cash transfers and in-kind distributions; conducting post-distribution monitoring; maintaining accurate records for reporting; assisting with project documentation; and ensuring that protection and accountability principles are integrated into all activities. The officer will also be responsible for capacity building of Economic Recovery Assistants and coordinating with local stakeholders to support project implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in food assistance programming, with at least two years of hands-on experience in Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) programming. Experience working in humanitarian settings, particularly with displaced populations in Northeast or Northwest Nigeria, is essential. Candidates should have practical experience in beneficiary targeting, registration, and post-distribution monitoring, as well as a solid understanding of protection principles and accountability to affected populations. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with local authorities and community leaders are also required. Knowledge of the North-East Nigeria context and good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, are desirable.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in social sciences, humanitarian studies, development studies, or a related field. Candidates with additional certifications or training in food security, nutrition, or cash assistance programming will be viewed favorably.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in food assistance programming and Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) programming. Experience in humanitarian settings, particularly with displaced populations, is crucial. Candidates should demonstrate practical experience in beneficiary targeting, registration, and post-distribution monitoring, as well as a strong understanding of protection and accountability principles.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all applications and communications will be conducted in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Zamfara State would be an advantage, as it would facilitate better communication with beneficiaries and local stakeholders.

This position is a national contract with a duration of 12 months. The Economic Recovery Officer will be based in Gusau, Zamfara State, and is expected to adhere to DRC's safety, confidentiality, and ethical guidelines.
