Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in providing technical and coordination support to projects implemented under the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP). The primary focus of this position is to contribute to the strengthening of climate resilience and sustainable agri-food systems in Thailand and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The incumbent will be responsible for the effective management and implementation of project activities, which includes coordinating with national and subnational government counterparts, facilitating multi-stakeholder engagement processes, and supporting the delivery of technical outputs and monitoring and learning activities. This role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that project initiatives align with FAO’s strategic objectives on climate-resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agri-food systems. The Project Coordinator will also assist in operational and financial matters related to project management, ensuring that all activities are executed in accordance with FAO’s country-level priorities and operational procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include coordinating overall technical project planning and implementation to ensure coherence across outputs, in line with approved work plans and donor reporting requirements. The incumbent will work closely with national and sub-national partners, donor representatives, and technical specialists for activity planning, execution, stakeholder consultations, and technical task forces as needed. The Project Coordinator will represent the project at meetings, conferences, and workshops, providing technical recommendations to support the achievement of project objectives. Additionally, the role involves maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge through consultations with technical officers, discussions with stakeholders, desk reviews, trainings, and other learning activities. The incumbent will support the preparation of progress reports, donor reports, and internal monitoring updates, ensuring timely and accurate inputs in FAO corporate systems. Conducting quality assurance reviews of deliverables and technical reports prepared by project specialists is also a key responsibility. The Project Coordinator will contribute to project visibility and communication efforts through collaboration with the Communications Team on outreach materials, coordinate duty travel arrangements for consultants, and support logistics for trainings, workshops, and related project activities. Planning and conducting field missions and community consultations as required, leading advanced planning and coordination for operational and administrative support, and performing other relevant duties as assigned are also part of the role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in public or business administration, finance, accounting, economics, social science, or any other discipline relevant to the work of the Organization. For those with a bachelor's degree, two additional years of relevant professional experience are required. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in internal control, finance, administration, risk management, audit, or a related field is necessary for Category B positions. Additionally, candidates must have a working knowledge of English at level C, which indicates a proficient understanding of the language in professional contexts.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as public or business administration, finance, accounting, economics, social science, or other disciplines pertinent to the work of the FAO. Candidates with a bachelor's degree must have two additional years of relevant professional experience to qualify for the position.
