Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD) of the Office of Human Resources (OHR), part of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The intern will report directly to a Project Lead or a Human Resources Officer and will be engaged in a variety of tasks that align with their academic background and interests. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in multiple areas, including administrative and technical skills, communications and graphic design, research and data analysis, and talent management and development. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to significant projects and initiatives that support the UN's mission and enhance the effectiveness of its human resources strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including: A. Administrative and Technical Skills - Assisting in the design, updating, and maintenance of internal records, databases, and SharePoint files, ensuring their accuracy and confidentiality. - Utilizing various Office 365 applications, Power BI, and other software to prepare presentations, reports, and communications for the team. B. Communications and Graphic Design - Aiding in the planning and dissemination of communication products and contributing to outreach activities. - Drafting written materials for online engagement and maintaining web and social media content. - Designing or editing visuals that adhere to United Nations branding guidelines and developing skills in software for creating infographics, presentations, and videos. C. Research and Data Analysis - Conducting research on HR-related policies and summarizing key findings, as well as collecting and analyzing data for internal reports and budget submissions. - Developing visual solutions and reports to support decision-making processes. D. Talent Management and Development - Assisting in the design and implementation of learning and development initiatives, including training materials on various topics. - Supporting the planning and coordination of briefings and community engagement events. - Participating in outreach efforts to promote job opportunities and HR initiatives. E. Other Opportunities - Collaborating with different teams within OHR to support cross-functional HR initiatives and proposing solutions to enhance team efficiency.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). A background in human resources, psychology, education, public administration, or related fields is desirable. While professional work experience is not required, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship. Additionally, applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel. Familiarity with content authoring software, synchronous learning tools, learning platforms, data analytic tools, and media design software is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be attached to the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage. The educational background should ideally be related to human resources or similar fields to ensure relevance to the internship tasks.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This could include internships, volunteer work, or projects related to human resources, policy development, or organizational management.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This internship is designed to be in-person and full-time, requiring a commitment of 35 hours per week, although adjustments can be made based on the successful candidate's requests. The expected duration of the internship is between 3 to 6 months. It is important to note that interns are not financially compensated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Additionally, for non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents, obtaining a G-4 visa is mandatory for full-time internships in the United States.
