Job Overview:
The Senior Communications and Co-ordination Associate plays a crucial role in enhancing the strategic communication and coordination capacity of the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. This position involves supporting the planning, development, and delivery of communication activities that aim to strengthen the visibility of the Office and improve engagement with various stakeholders. The incumbent will be responsible for consolidating inputs for briefing notes and daily files, supervising administrative staff, and ensuring timely submission of materials. The role requires working closely with the Director and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media to manage communication strategies and coordinate activities effectively. The Senior Associate will also act as a central point of reference for institutional activities, contributing to policy development and providing independent advice to support informed decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Communications and Co-ordination Associate include: acting as the central coordination point for institutional activities; contributing to policy development and program planning; providing independent substantive advice to senior management; establishing quality standards for professional inputs; conducting substantive reviews of communication materials; leading the Office's communication and public information function; representing the Office in media-related matters; ensuring office-wide coordination and coherence; managing information flow and advising on prioritization of activities; overseeing the Office's web presence and digital communication tools; providing functional leadership for communication activities; guiding and advising staff; and performing other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, supplemented by specialized training in public information, media affairs, and administrative duties. A first-level university degree in international relations, political science, or communications is considered an asset. A minimum of seven years of working experience in communications, public information, and administration is required, including experience in planning and coordinating high-level activities, preferably in an international environment. Experience in drafting and editing communication materials and managing content on digital platforms is essential. Candidates should possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of political sensitivities and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a completed secondary education, with specialized training in relevant fields such as public information, media affairs, and administrative duties. A first-level university degree in international relations, political science, or communications is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's eligibility.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant working experience in communications, public information, and administration. This experience should include planning and coordinating high-level activities, preferably within an international context. A university degree in a relevant field may substitute for up to two years of working experience when determining eligibility.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other OSCE languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is a full-time contracted role at the General Services level (G7) with a fixed-term appointment. The monthly remuneration is approximately EUR 6,450, subject to social security deductions, and OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria. Social benefits include participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund. Appointments are typically made at Step 1 of the OSCE salary scale, with the possibility of higher initial appointments in exceptional cases.
