Job Overview:
The Manager for PPP Transaction Advisory in Europe will play a pivotal role in advancing IFC's objectives in the region. This position is designed for an individual with significant market and industry experience, who will lead the regional team in Europe and oversee the implementation of IFC's PPP Transaction Advisory strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing key client and government relationships, which are essential for the growth and development of IFC's PPP business in the region. The role requires a strategic mindset to accelerate the energy transition, promote innovation, strengthen competitiveness, and deepen capital markets, all aimed at protecting and creating jobs. The Manager will also be an integral part of the Europe regional management team and a member of the global PPP management team, ensuring alignment with the broader goals of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Manager for PPP Transaction Advisory include:
  • Developing the regional strategy for PPP advisory business in collaboration with country managers and the global PPP team, focusing on strategic priorities and high-impact projects.
  • Originating, executing, and managing a diverse pipeline of mandates and programs in PPPs across the infrastructure and public services sectors, ensuring a balanced approach to strategic priorities and geographic distribution.
  • Providing oversight in drafting key transaction reports and project documentation, including due diligence and transaction structuring reports, pre-qualification and bidding terms of reference, and transaction contracts and agreements.
  • Establishing key business and development targets with an emphasis on impact, financial sustainability, and engagement with fragile and conflict-affected states (FCS).
  • Managing financial and operational risks within the portfolio.
  • Fostering strong relationships with World Bank Group counterparts to identify collaboration opportunities and enhance business delivery at the country level.
  • Developing IFC's brand in the PPP sector and building relationships with key regional stakeholders, including sponsors, investors, regulators, donors, and NGOs.
  • Actively contributing to the Europe Management Team and leading a specialized team across the region, ensuring high performance, motivation, innovation, and commitment to IFC's success in Europe.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, public policy, consulting, or a related field, along with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience. A combination of experience in physical and social infrastructure and/or public services advisory transactions is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to development and a proven track record that aligns with the mission, strategy, and values of the World Bank Group and IFC. Additionally, candidates should have significant experience in developing client relationships and executing mandates in challenging environments, showcasing their capacity to build strong partnerships that yield results.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant fields such as finance, business, law, public policy, or consulting. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of PPP transactions and the advisory services provided by IFC.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, particularly in the areas of physical and social infrastructure and public services advisory transactions. This experience should include a strong track record of business delivery, investment experience, and the ability to manage client relationships effectively. Candidates should also demonstrate superior business judgment and established professional credibility in the field.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages is considered a plus, as it may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders across the region.
