Job Overview:
The Communications and Partnership Assistant position is a United Nations Volunteer (UNV) role that supports UNDP Nepal's efforts to enhance its communications and partnerships initiatives. The assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Communications and will be responsible for implementing the Communications and Partnerships Strategy and Action Plan. This includes increasing the visibility of UNDP's projects, drafting success stories and communications products, managing social media accounts, and supporting internal knowledge management practices. The role is crucial for ensuring that UNDP's work is effectively communicated to external audiences and that internal knowledge is well-managed and utilized.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Communications and Partnership Assistant include:
  • Supporting UNDP Nepal’s communications and partnerships initiatives by assisting the communications team in increasing project visibility, drafting success stories and other communications products, managing social media updates, and finalizing knowledge products for outreach.
  • Enhancing internal knowledge management practices by gathering and analyzing information from UNDP’s programs for both internal awareness and external communications.
  • Engaging in ad hoc activities as needed to support the overall communications strategy. This role requires creativity, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a strong understanding of communication strategies and practices, particularly in the context of development work. They should demonstrate adaptability, creativity, and a commitment to ethical values. The role requires excellent writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to engage with diverse audiences. Familiarity with social media platforms and knowledge management systems is also essential.

Educational Background:
A degree in communications, public relations, international development, or a related field is required. Candidates with relevant certifications or additional training in communications or partnership management will be preferred.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within a development context. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable. The role may require familiarity with knowledge management practices and the ability to analyze and synthesize information effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Nepali or other local languages is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication with local stakeholders and communities.
