Job Overview: The position of Especialista Pedagógico del Proyecto UNESCO-Quellaveco-REIMAGINA is crucial for the successful implementation of the UNESCO-Quellaveco project in Peru, which aims to enhance the educational outcomes of 12,000 schoolchildren in the Moquegua region. The specialist will provide technical assistance and promote the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into pedagogical practices. This role involves planning and managing training needs in ICT for various educational stakeholders, fostering relationships with educational institutions, and ensuring the effective use of technology in teaching and learning processes. The specialist will also be responsible for developing and facilitating training workshops for educators, assisting in the design of educational activities that incorporate digital technologies, and evaluating the impact of ICT on pedagogical practices. The overarching goal is to improve the quality of education and support the development of socio-emotional and digital skills among students, thereby contributing to the overall development of their communities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Especialista Pedagógico include:
Planning and coordinating programmatic activities to address the training needs in ICT of educational stakeholders.
Managing relationships with educational institution staff and local education authorities to promote technological appropriation and school transformation.
Encouraging educational institutions to incorporate ICT into their activities, particularly in learning projects.
Proposing actions for the pedagogical integration of ICT, including resources, tools, and applications.
Developing and facilitating in-person and virtual training workshops for educators.
Assisting teachers in designing and adapting educational activities that utilize digital technologies.
Facilitating communication and sharing of best practices among educational institutions.
Providing ongoing technical assistance to educators to resolve challenges in integrating technology into their teaching.
Documenting and sharing best practices regarding the use of ICT in education. 1
Promoting teamwork and collaboration within the project team and contributing to the overall performance of the UNESCO office in Lima.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in fields such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, Social Sciences, or related areas. A specialization in educational technologies, e-learning, or virtual environments is desirable. Additionally, candidates should have a strong background in educational practices and technology integration.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Informatics, Systems Engineering, Education, or Social Sciences. A specialization in educational technologies or e-learning is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of pedagogical principles and the effective use of technology in educational settings.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of general experience in the public or private education sector, specifically related to teaching and learning with technology. At least 4 years of experience in educational institutions leading technology integration initiatives or teacher training in digital competencies is required. Experience in 5 or more educational or social projects as an advisor, consultant, or specialist in educational technologies is also necessary. Experience in projects focusing on interculturality and the development of digital competencies in diverse populations will be considered a plus.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of instruction and communication in the project. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not required.
Additional Notes: The consultancy will be based in the Moquegua region, and candidates must either reside in Moquegua or be willing to relocate. The contract duration is 8 months, subject to budget availability and performance evaluation. The position does not include expectations for renewal or conversion to another type of contract, nor does it provide coverage for medical services.
