Job Overview:
The Digital Media Expert consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing IMEO's communications by transforming complex scientific data and research findings into clear, engaging content suitable for a diverse audience. This position involves producing high-quality multimedia materials, including infographics, factsheets, videos, and presentations, that effectively communicate IMEO's work and key messages. The consultant will ensure that all content is accurate, visually appealing, and aligned with IMEO's communication objectives. Additionally, the consultant will manage and strengthen IMEO's digital communications across various platforms, including developing a social media strategy, creating and scheduling content, producing newsletters, and coordinating updates to IMEO's webpages. The consultant will also monitor performance metrics and refine communication approaches to enhance audience engagement and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Developing high-quality multimedia content that effectively communicates IMEO's data and research findings.
  • Managing IMEO's digital presence, including content for the website and social media channels.
  • Producing newsletters and implementing a results-driven social media strategy.
  • Monitoring performance metrics and reporting on engagement and reach.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and the UNEP Web Team to ensure consistent messaging and timely delivery of outputs.
  • Establishing and maintaining a structured visual asset repository.
  • Delivering training sessions on social media and digital communications for IMEO staff.
  • Producing clear factsheets and scientific materials in coordination with scientific teams.
  • Submitting biannual performance reports and an annual impact report at the end of the contract.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's) in Communications, Media, or a related field. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in digital communications, content management, visual design, and social media management. Strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills are essential, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear and concise messaging for diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience in managing social media platforms and leveraging them for content promotion and engagement is also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a first-level degree in Communications, Media, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the principles of effective communication and media production, which are essential for the role of Digital Media Expert.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in digital communications, content management, visual design, and social media management. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the consultant can effectively handle the responsibilities of the role and contribute to IMEO's communication objectives.

Languages:
English is the working language of UNEP's IMEO, and proficiency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication with a broader audience and facilitate engagement in diverse contexts.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is expected to be 12 months. The consultant will be required to submit a comprehensive social media strategy within the first two months of the contract, deliver a minimum of 2-3 social media posts per week, produce quarterly newsletters, and create at least three high-quality multimedia assets each month. The consultant will also be responsible for coordinating website updates every two months and delivering event communications packages at least two weeks prior to each event. Performance reports will be submitted biannually, and the consultant is expected to conduct at least one training session for IMEO staff during the contract period. The United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
