Job Overview: The SRH Policies & Humanitarian Response Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the UNFPA Country Office in advancing its mandate related to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), maternal health, family planning, and emergency SRH services. This position involves providing technical and programmatic support, contributing to policy processes, and assisting with humanitarian preparedness and response activities. The Officer will work closely with various stakeholders, including government counterparts, civil society organizations, and sister UN agencies, to ensure effective coordination and implementation of SRH and humanitarian response activities. The role requires a strong commitment to UNFPA's mission and the ability to navigate complex humanitarian contexts while delivering results that align with the organization's strategic objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The SRH Policies & Humanitarian Response Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: A. Programme and Policy Support to SRHR: Assisting in the review and update of national SRHR policies, providing technical support for the development and implementation of annual workplans, conducting policy research, and organizing technical meetings and consultations. B. Humanitarian Preparedness and Response: Supporting emergency SRH preparedness activities, contributing to data collection during humanitarian assessments, coordinating SRH-related support to partners in affected areas, and managing humanitarian SRH commodities. C. Programme Management and Monitoring: Assisting in project proposal preparation, monitoring and evaluation efforts, field visits to support partners, and ensuring compliance with UNFPA guidelines. D. Coordination, Partnerships, and Resource Mobilization: Supporting coordination with government ministries and NGOs, participating in working groups, providing administrative assistance, and contributing to advocacy efforts for SRHR. E. Knowledge Management and Communication: Collecting and disseminating knowledge products, developing communication materials, and maintaining updated records related to SRHR and humanitarian programming. The Officer may also be required to carry out additional duties as assigned by UNFPA leadership.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Nursing/Midwifery, Social Sciences, Health Policy, or other relevant fields. Additionally, they should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in SRHR, public health, humanitarian response, or policy support. A strong understanding of policies related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, maternal health, and family planning is essential. Field experience in addressing SRHR issues in emergency and post-conflict contexts is required, along with a commitment to UNFPA's mandate. Experience working with vulnerable communities and practical experience in project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation are also necessary. Proficiency in office software and web-based management systems is required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Public Health, Medicine, Nursing/Midwifery, Social Sciences, or Health Policy.
