Job Overview: The Associate Platform Engineer position at the World Bank Group is a critical role within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidency. Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate Platform Engineer will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at maintaining and enhancing the Bank's search ecosystem. Key duties include providing frontline support for on-premises search indices, troubleshooting data ingestion issues, and collaborating with engineering teams to resolve workflow breaks. The role also involves supporting the migration of ingestion pipelines to cloud-based solutions, assisting application teams with legacy search APIs, and guiding users through changes in search behavior. Additionally, the engineer will participate in content validation, quality assurance cycles, and summarize recurring issues to communicate actionable recommendations to engineering teams. The position requires a strong understanding of search index architectures, familiarity with ETL frameworks, and the ability to diagnose user-reported search issues. The engineer will also monitor platform health, engage stakeholders, and support project execution and documentation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Associate Platform Engineer position must possess a Master’s degree in computer science or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of experience. A strong background in administering and building solutions on Microsoft technologies and cloud platforms is essential, along with proven experience in delivering Azure Search, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, and Databricks solutions. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, C#, and .Net is required, as well as knowledge of migration tooling and experience with Power Apps and Power Automate. Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills are also necessary, along with the ability to work within Agile delivery methodologies.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for the Associate Platform Engineer position include a Master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with significant experience in the field.
