Job Overview: The Director of the European Department (EUR) plays a crucial role in overseeing the IMF’s relations with 46 member countries in Europe. The Director is responsible for planning, managing, and supervising the work of the Department and its staff, contributing to the development of IMF policies, and ensuring the implementation of these policies in relation to member countries. Duties and Responsibilities: The Director will oversee the activities of the IMF Offices in Europe, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with regional stakeholders. Key responsibilities include providing policy advice to member countries, implementing IMF policies, managing financial support and technical assistance, and leading policy dialogue and negotiations. The Director will also be expected to anticipate the shifting needs of member countries, build effective working relationships with senior policymakers, and foster cooperation with relevant external counterparts. Additionally, the Director will manage a large team, ensuring effective delegation of tasks and responsibilities, and will be responsible for championing innovation and change within the Department.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position should possess an advanced degree in economics or a related field, along with 15 to 20 years of extensive operational and policy experience in macroeconomic management, particularly in relation to European economies and the Euro area.
