Job Overview: The Sr. Cloud Engineer at WWF is responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization's technology systems, with a primary focus on online infrastructure in Azure, as well as managing resources in AWS and Google Cloud as needed. This role involves supporting M365, servers/VMs, operating systems, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and networking across both cloud and on-premises environments for WWF-US and its Country Offices. The position requires a proactive approach to ensure the stability, resiliency, and robust protection of all cloud-based systems within WWF, as well as the development and execution of system backup strategies for all WWF platforms. The Sr. Cloud Engineer will also analyze and troubleshoot network connectivity issues and maintain, configure, and optimize WWF’s Azure environment, ensuring that all systems align with security requirements and best practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Sr. Cloud Engineer include managing and supporting WWF’s Azure infrastructure, provisioning new subscriptions, resources, and roles to support organizational programs and initiatives. The engineer will ensure the stability and resiliency of cloud-based systems, develop and execute backup strategies, analyze network connectivity, maintain Azure environments, administer various Azure virtual machines, and manage DNS services. Additionally, the role involves creating and supporting Azure Enterprise Apps for Single Sign-On, developing and maintaining a High Availability and Disaster Recovery playbook, serving as an escalation point for complex issues, and performing work duties after hours as needed due to unexpected outages or planned maintenance. Other responsibilities include regular system updates and patches, as well as any other duties assigned by management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in IT or a related field, with verbal and written fluency in both English and Spanish. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required, including extensive hands-on experience managing highly available Azure production systems. Candidates should have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, cloud architecture, cloud networking, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and both Windows and Linux servers. Significant expertise in building, deploying, and managing virtual machines in Azure is essential, along with a history of applying structured thinking to diagnose complex cloud or hybrid system issues. Proficiency in managing Windows domains and Active Directory, advanced skills in configuring Microsoft Entra tenants, and experience with PowerShell and Graph API for Azure management are also required. Familiarity with technologies such as Fabric, Power BI, and Azure Foundry is a plus, as is experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Palo Alto firewalls.
Educational Background: A degree in IT or a related field is highly preferred for this position. Candidates should have a strong educational foundation that supports their technical skills and knowledge in cloud engineering and infrastructure management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in cloud engineering, specifically with a focus on managing Azure production systems. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with cloud technologies and infrastructure, demonstrating the ability to handle complex technical challenges and develop sustainable solutions.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Spanish is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is essential for collaboration within the organization and with stakeholders across different regions.
Additional Notes: The position is full-time and may require after-hours work due to critical outages or planned maintenance.
