Job Overview: The Advocacy Focal Point will work under the supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and will be responsible for acting as the primary advocate for the mission. This role involves providing direct support to the mission, developing strategic engagements, and formulating recommendations. The successful candidate will collaborate with program and support teams, as well as local partners, to enhance their advocacy capabilities. It is essential to ensure that programmatic data and analysis are readily available for advocacy and communications objectives. Additionally, the role requires the development and implementation of the ACF advocacy strategy for Afghanistan, aligning with both global and mission-specific strategies. The position also entails executing external communication initiatives that relate to ACF's mission, aimed at influencing external stakeholders effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Advocacy Focal Point include but are not limited to: acting as the main advocacy contact for the mission, providing strategic support and guidance; developing and implementing advocacy strategies that align with ACF's global objectives; collaborating with local partners to build their advocacy capacity; ensuring the availability of relevant programmatic data for advocacy purposes; conducting high-level representation and negotiations with stakeholders; synthesizing complex issues into strategic insights for advocacy; developing communication initiatives that resonate with ACF's mission; and engaging with external stakeholders to influence policies and practices related to humanitarian aid.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Master's degree in International Relations, International law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Humanitarian Law, Social Sciences, Politics, Development Studies, or a related field. Proven experience in humanitarian advocacy is essential, particularly in high-level representation, negotiation, and influencing aid policies. Experience in insecure or volatile environments is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to synthesize complex issues, and a solid understanding of humanitarian principles and the broader humanitarian system. Excellent communication, negotiation, and diplomatic skills are also required, along with a strong command of advocacy tools and processes.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field such as International Relations, International Humanitarian Law, Social Sciences, Politics, or Development Studies is required for this position. Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience in humanitarian advocacy, particularly in high-level negotiations and representation. Additional Notes: This position is offered as a fixed-term contract under French legislation for a duration of 6 months. The monthly gross salary ranges from 2597 to 2968 euros, depending on experience, and includes a 13th-month salary. Non-French citizens will have their pension insurance reimbursed at 16% of the gross monthly salary. An annual salary increase of 6% is applicable after each 12 months of continuous service. Additional benefits include a monthly per diem and living allowance of 681 euros net, a country allowance of 450 euros, and a cold allowance for winter equipment purchases up to 380 euros per year. Child allowance is available at 1500 euros per year per child present in the country of origin, with a maximum of 6000 euros per year. Transportation and accommodation costs will be covered, and ACF provides 100% medical coverage for health and repatriation insurance, including for dependents. The position also includes 25 days of paid leave per year, 20 rest and recuperation (RnR) days, and airfare reimbursement for RnR travel, along with a financial allowance for each RnR period. Field trips may include locations such as GHOR, DIKUNDI, BADAKHSAN, and HELMAND.
