Job Posting Organization: International Rescue Committee (RESCUE) is a global humanitarian organization founded in 1933 at the initiative of Albert Einstein. The organization operates in over 40 of the world's most crisis-affected countries, providing support to individuals to survive crises, recover, and rebuild their lives. RESCUE opened an office in Stockholm at the end of 2019, aiming to raise funds and influence Swedish policy regarding aid and migration. Currently, there are 20 employees at the Stockholm office.
Job Overview: As an intern, you will be part of a small communication team and work closely with our political advisor. We are looking for a strong communicator in Swedish who wants to develop skills in web, social media, and content production for various communication channels. You will learn methods for political influence in aid and migration issues by participating in the work. The internship is designed for those studying communication, international relations, peace and conflict studies, or similar fields, who are passionate about communication and enjoy writing, translating, and designing texts and content for web and social media. You should also have an interest in Swedish and international politics and a desire to learn more about change work.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your main responsibilities will include creating engaging content for the website and social media, supporting events, compiling reports, and creating communication around aid and migration policy. You will monitor and summarize news and trends in the aid and migration sector, contribute to power analysis and strategy for change, participate in network and stakeholder meetings, and assist the advocacy manager and secretary general with materials.
Required Qualifications: We are looking for candidates who are studying communication, international relations, peace and conflict studies, or similar fields. You should have a strong passion for communication, enjoy writing, translating, and designing content for web and social media, and have an interest in Swedish and international politics. You should also be fluent in written Swedish and English, creative, and driven. Additionally, knowledge and interest in areas such as SEO, graphic design, digital media content creation, digital trends, communication work within the aid sector, and political influence in non-profit organizations are preferred.
Educational Background: To apply for this internship, you need to be enrolled in an internship course or have a practical training component through an educational institution such as a university, college, or vocational school, or have approved work practice through the Employment Service.
Experience: This internship is suitable for students who are currently studying and looking to gain practical experience in communication within a large global humanitarian organization. Previous experience in communication or related fields is beneficial but not mandatory as this position is primarily aimed at students.
Languages: Fluency in written Swedish and English is mandatory. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not required.
