Job Overview:
The position of Volunteer Report Designer involves working under the direct supervision of a Programme Specialist to enhance the clarity, consistency, and visual presentation of key reports for the UNESCO Addis Ababa office. The volunteer will be responsible for designing the layout of various documents, including the report of activities implemented in Ethiopia and the report on the Year of Education 202
  • The role requires a keen eye for detail and an understanding of how to present information in a structured and visually appealing manner. The volunteer will collaborate with Heads of sectors to ensure that all outputs meet UNESCO's editorial, graphic, and visibility standards, integrating feedback from staff and partners to produce high-quality reports that effectively communicate the office's achievements and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design the layout of key documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and visual appeal, specifically focusing on the report of activities implemented in Ethiopia and the Year of Education 2024 report.
  • Collaborate with Heads of sectors to gather necessary information and feedback for the reports.
  • Ensure that all outputs adhere to UNESCO's editorial, graphic, and visibility standards.
  • Integrate relevant feedback from staff and partners into the final designs.
  • Provide timely and comprehensive deliverables for the reports, ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Maintain a structured approach to presenting information, ensuring that reports are engaging and easy to understand for both internal and external audiences.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong design skills, particularly in layout design for reports and documents. Familiarity with UNESCO's editorial and graphic standards is highly desirable. The candidate should also have excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including Heads of sectors and other staff members. Attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines are essential for this role. A proactive approach to integrating feedback and making necessary adjustments to designs is also required.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, communications, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have experience or coursework that demonstrates their ability to design visually appealing documents and reports. Familiarity with design software and tools is essential for this position.

Experience:
While specific years of experience may not be required, candidates should demonstrate a strong portfolio of design work that showcases their skills in layout design and document presentation. Experience working in a non-profit or international organization is a plus, as it may provide valuable context for understanding the objectives of UNESCO.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reports and communications will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the region, would be considered an asset but is not required.
