Job Overview:
The Deputy Regional Security and Safety Specialist for Asia and the Pacific and Arab States is a pivotal role within UN Women, primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of security and safety services for the organization. This position requires the incumbent to provide technical support, guidance, and advice to various UN Women offices, ensuring compliance with UN security policies and procedures. The role involves assessing security risks, advising on preventive measures, and facilitating the safe delivery of UN Women programs. The incumbent will work closely with the Global advisor" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Advisor and other regional security personnel, ensuring that security measures align with the organization's mission and operational needs. The position is based in Bangkok, Thailand, but will require travel within the region and internationally as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Regional Security and Safety Specialist will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties, including providing timely and accurate security advice to Country, Multi-Country, and Regional Offices. The incumbent will oversee security evaluations, track developing threats, and recommend risk prevention measures. They will liaise with local and regional security communities, participate in security management meetings, and maintain a network of security personnel. Additionally, the role involves developing and implementing the UN Women Security Plan, monitoring compliance with Security Risk Management Measures, and reporting security incidents affecting UN Women personnel and assets. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing and conducting training courses on security awareness and preparedness, overseeing the security budget, and performing other security-related tasks as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in security management, business administration, political/social science, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, candidates with UN, military, or police senior Command and Staff College qualifications with command experience may also be considered. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in security, with at least 2 years at the country level in conflict, post-conflict, or development contexts. Experience in conducting security risk assessments, disaster operations, and business continuity programs is desirable, as is experience within the United Nations Security Management System.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in fields such as security management, business administration, political/social science, psychology, or international relations. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. Candidates with relevant military or police qualifications may also be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in security, with at least 2 years of experience at the country level in conflict, post-conflict, or development contexts. Candidates should have experience in conducting security and safety risk assessments as part of operational planning. Experience in disaster and conflict operations, implementation of business continuity programs, and regional security roles is desirable. Familiarity with the United Nations Security Management System is also preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.

This position is full-time and based in Bangkok, Thailand. The incumbent will be required to travel for missions within the regions covered and internationally as necessary.
