Job Overview: This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is based in the regional office of the Development Coordination Office (DCO) in Bangkok. The intern will be involved in supporting the regional team's communications and advocacy efforts across Asia and the Pacific. The role is designed to provide interns with first-hand experience in public outreach and organizational inreach, contributing to multimedia content creation and digital communications. The intern will also assist in visibility initiatives that showcase the UN's contributions to development in the region. This is an unpaid, full-time internship lasting three months, with the possibility of extension up to six months. Interns are expected to work five days a week, totaling 35 hours. The intern will report directly to the Team Lead and will be integral in supporting the DCO's mission to enhance communication and strategic outreach related to key development and geopolitical trends.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting with public outreach efforts to promote the UN's work in the region; contributing to the creation of multimedia content for digital platforms; supporting visibility initiatives that highlight the UN's coordinated development efforts; monitoring media coverage related to regional and global development issues; tracking key geopolitical trends to inform communications strategies; drafting news articles and social media posts; and potentially designing surveys and polls to gather feedback and insights. The intern will play a supportive role in ensuring that the DCO's communications are timely, relevant, and impactful, thereby enhancing the visibility of the UN's work in Asia and the Pacific.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, applicants should have a field of study that is closely related to the internship they are applying for. Additionally, applicants must possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. The ability to draft news articles and social media posts is desirable, as is the ability to design surveys and polls.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes either being currently enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. This educational requirement ensures that interns have a foundational understanding of the relevant fields of study that align with the responsibilities of the internship, particularly in areas related to communications, international relations, or development studies.
Experience: While prior professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship, candidates should ideally have some academic or practical exposure to fields related to communications, international development, or public relations.
