Job Overview:
The consultant will work under the supervision of the UN Women Regional Communications Specialist, focusing on updating and managing the UN Women Regional Programme, Joint Programme, and Country Offices' web pages. The role involves developing web-based projects and managing digital content systems for UN Women. The consultant will conceptualize and maintain webpages for the EmPower project, design innovative digital content for online dissemination, and support the management of UN Women Asia Pacific's video and photo channels. The consultant will also be responsible for website analytics, recommending best practices for visibility, and supporting the migration of the UN Women Asia and Pacific website to Drupal. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and adherence to UN Women branding guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's responsibilities include:
  • Conceptualizing, developing, and maintaining webpages and digital content for the EmPower project.
  • Planning and designing high-quality web-based content for online dissemination.
  • Modifying and editing webpage assets and layouts in consultation with relevant staff.
  • Managing the UN Women Asia Pacific video channel and photo gallery on platforms like YouTube and Flickr.
  • Generating website analytics for monthly monitoring and reporting.
  • Recommending best practices for website visibility for programs and campaigns.
  • Supporting the full migration of the UN Women Asia and Pacific website to Drupal.
  • Providing ICT client support and troubleshooting for Regional Programmes.
  • Backstopping web administration functions for the Regional Office and Multi-Country Office. 1
  • Providing on-site IT support to Programme teams as needed.

Required Qualifications:
The consultant must closely follow UN Women branding guidelines and utilize approved corporate branding for all materials. They should explore innovative methods to convey information and ensure that all messages are positive and empowering, reflecting the programme's vision. The consultant must acknowledge that UN Women retains non-exclusive world rights to all webpage material and related digital content.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in web design, programming, communication, or a related discipline is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
At least 2 years of professional experience in Sitecore and website applications management is required. Experience in developing communication materials focused on gender issues is an asset. The consultant should have expertise in website and graphic design software and experience working with UN or international organizations is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in written and oral English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy is home-based with no official travel required. The estimated duration of the consultancy is 730 working days from May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2029, under a retainer contract that allows for direct engagement based on need and availability. The consultant will be compensated with a pre-agreed fee for their services.
