Job Overview:
The Director of General Services is a pivotal role within the IAEA, reporting directly to the Deputy Director General for Management. This position is responsible for providing strategic guidance and ensuring the transparent, efficient, and cost-effective operations of the Division of General Services (MTGS). The Director will oversee a range of functions including facilities management, technical and engineering services, archives and records management, and various logistical support services such as transport, travel, and housing. The role requires a leader who can inspire innovative solutions and best practices that align with the IAEA's priorities, while also managing human and financial resources effectively. The Director will serve as an advisor to senior management and coordinate with other organizations based in the Vienna International Centre on common services and facilities management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director will lead the Division of General Services, providing direction and guidance to staff, and promoting the development of knowledge and relevant skills within the team. Key responsibilities include ensuring the timely provision of efficient, effective, economical, innovative, and customer-focused technical and support services. The Director will provide guidance on infrastructure planning, development, operational support, and maintenance, ensuring integrated management of the Seibersdorf site. Additionally, the Director will advise senior management on facilities management, infrastructure, and property management issues, and represent the IAEA in various inter-agency bodies and negotiations with the Austrian Government and other organizations. The role also includes managing the provision and administration of insurance coverage for IAEA personnel and assets.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in civil and structural engineering, building construction management, facilities management, public and business management, or a related discipline. A first-level university degree in these fields combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered. The position requires a minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, including at least five years in a senior-level role within a complex international or national organization. Proven experience in managing diverse facilities, construction management, strategic project planning, and negotiation is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate large teams in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in civil and structural engineering, building construction management, facilities management, public and business management, or a related discipline is required. A first-level university degree in these fields, along with additional relevant experience, may also be acceptable. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of facilities management and the technical aspects involved in the role.

Experience:
The position requires a substantial level of experience, specifically a minimum of 15 years in relevant professional roles. This includes at least five years of senior-level experience in managing complex facilities and services, ideally within an international or national public or private sector organization. Candidates should have a proven track record in leadership, management of financial resources, and the ability to lead diverse teams effectively.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $117,953, along with a variable post adjustment, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, and relocation expenses. Employees are entitled to six weeks of annual leave, home leave travel, and benefits such as a pension plan and health insurance.
