Job Overview:
The Protection from Violence Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Rohingya refugee response activities in Teknaf, specifically in camps 26 and 2
  • This position focuses on protection case management and providing individual protection assistance to vulnerable refugees. The officer will be responsible for managing protection cases, identifying individuals in need of assistance, coordinating with partners and stakeholders, and contributing to program implementation, reporting, and capacity building. The role requires adherence to NRC's core values of dedication, innovation, inclusivity, and accountability, ensuring that all actions and relationships reflect these principles. The officer will also provide technical expertise, training, coaching, and mentorship to NRC and national partner staff in protection case management and individual protection assistance, ensuring that all activities align with international best practices and guiding principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection from Violence Officer will undertake a variety of key tasks and assignments, including:
  • Providing technical expertise and support to NRC and national partner staff in protection case management and Individual Protection Assistance (IPA).
  • Contextualizing NRC's case management and IPA tools to fit the Bangladesh context.
  • Developing, maintaining, and rolling out case management processes, including service mapping, protocols, referral pathways, SOPs, and databases.
  • Conducting individual protection assistance identification, assessment, intake, and support for cases.
  • Managing all protection case management activities, including intake, assessment, planning, implementation of case plans, monitoring, and closure of cases.
  • Organizing regular case conferencing with the Protection Programme Development Manager and Protection Coordinator to discuss case directions.
  • Conducting household visits and center-based interviews to assess and plan for case management.
  • Participating in awareness-raising sessions and meetings to inform project participants about their rights and available services.
  • Engaging in data collection processes, including surveys and assessments. 1
  • Supporting localized service mapping and building linkages across centers for referrals. 1
  • Ensuring accuracy in data collection and compliance with data protection policies. 1
  • Collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders, representing NRC in relevant forums. 1
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential case files. 1
  • Supporting documentation-related tasks, including filing and note-taking. 1
  • Upholding confidentiality and data protection standards as per NRC's policy. 1
  • Performing any other tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Protection from Violence Officer position should possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Case Worker in a humanitarian context, preferably in Bangladesh.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, social sciences, law, or a relevant field.
  • Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA) and/or Trauma-Informed Interviewing. 1
  • Strong understanding of case management principles and referral pathways. 1
  • Experience in service mapping and coordination mechanisms. 1
  • Experience in delivering training and mentoring staff. 1
  • Experience supervising assistants or volunteers. 1
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Kobo, and databases. 1
  • Fluency in Rohingya and good English language skills are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as psychology, social work, social sciences, or law. Additional training in Psychological First Aid (PFA) and/or Trauma-Informed Interviewing is highly desirable, as it equips the candidate with the necessary skills to handle sensitive cases effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Case Worker in a humanitarian context, with a preference for candidates who have worked in Bangladesh. This experience should include direct involvement in protection case management and individual protection assistance, as well as familiarity with the challenges faced by vulnerable populations in crisis situations.

Languages:
Fluency in Rohingya is mandatory, along with good English language skills. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse populations.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, with a contract duration of 8 months. The role is full-time, and NRC is committed to providing a supportive work environment that encourages diversity and inclusion.
