Job Overview: The Country Representative will play a crucial role in leading the IDB Group's efforts in Uruguay, acting as the primary liaison between the organization and various stakeholders, including the government, private sector, and civil society. This position requires a strategic leader who can develop and implement the Country Strategy, ensuring alignment with the IDB Group's institutional objectives. The representative will also oversee the management of human and financial resources within the Country Office, ensuring that operations are in line with the IDB Group's policies. Duties and Responsibilities:
Represent the IDB Group in Uruguay, establishing and maintaining relationships with government officials, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations.
Lead the development of the Country Strategy, ensuring it aligns with the IDB Group's institutional strategy and the country's development objectives.
Manage and evaluate the performance of Country Office staff, providing guidance and support to optimize their contributions.
Ensure compliance with IDB Group policies related to ethics and workplace conduct.
Develop and implement a communication strategy to disseminate knowledge and information among stakeholders.
Identify and promote public-private synergies to achieve the IDB Group's objectives.
Supervise the design and implementation of development programs and projects, ensuring they meet expected impacts.
Mobilize resources from the private sector and other partners for project financing.
Monitor and report on the progress of programs and projects to senior management. 1
Foster a culture of inclusion and equity within the Country Office, ensuring diverse perspectives are considered in decision-making.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Public Policy, Business, Economics, Law, or a related field. They should have a strong professional background with demonstrated technical competencies relevant to the position. Leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams. Candidates must also exhibit strong interpersonal skills, enabling them to establish trust and credibility with stakeholders. A solid understanding of the IDB Group's culture and operations, as well as experience in similar multilateral development organizations, is highly desirable.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Policy, Business, Economics, or Law is required for this position. This educational background should be complemented by a strong professional track record that demonstrates the candidate's capabilities and expertise in the relevant areas.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 15 years of relevant experience in leadership roles, particularly within multilateral development organizations or development financial institutions. Experience in managing teams and projects, as well as a proven ability to navigate complex scenarios and build strategic relationships, is essential. For external candidates, at least three years of experience in a comparable position is required.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Excellent communication skills are essential to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and convey the IDB Group's mission and objectives.
Additional Notes: The position is offered as an international staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
