Job Overview: The Project Coordinator position is crucial for the effective management and coordination of the Culture programme at the UNESCO Antenna Office in Sarajevo. This role involves overseeing projects such as 'Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans', 'Support to the Ars Aevi Museum of Contemporary Arts in Sarajevo', and 'Harnessing Culture and Creativity for Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina'. The primary objective of these projects is to foster reconciliation and promote intercultural dialogue while enhancing the socio-economic impact of the cultural and creative sectors in the region. The Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe and will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of project activities, adherence to timelines, and compliance with budgetary constraints.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring effective coordination among partner organizations involved in the projects. This includes managing project activities, preparing progress reports, liaising with finance and communication officers, and supporting the Advisory Committee. The role also entails drafting calls for interest, monitoring contracts, and ensuring compliance with project obligations. The Project Coordinator will facilitate communication among partners, prepare public information products, and represent the project at national and international events. Additionally, the coordinator will manage logistics for meetings and events, ensuring that all technical requirements are met and that follow-up actions are monitored.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or above) in cultural studies, media studies, management, international relations, communication, or related fields. A minimum of 7 years of practical experience in international cultural cooperation is required, including at least 5 years in multi-partner project implementation and management. Strong knowledge of cultural cooperation scenarios in South-East Europe and Bosnia and Herzegovina is essential, along with demonstrated experience in project development and management in an international context. Candidates should also have advanced IT skills and the ability to develop communication strategies and tools.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Masters or above) in relevant fields such as cultural studies, media studies, management, international relations, communication, or social and human sciences is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of cultural cooperation and project management within an international framework.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of practical experience in international cultural cooperation, with at least 5 years focused on multi-partner project implementation and management. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects in an international environment, demonstrating strong time-management and reporting skills.
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English is mandatory, with the ability to produce high-quality written outputs such as reports and news items. Knowledge of other UNESCO official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and/or Spanish) is desirable. Proficiency in one or more of the official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina is also beneficial, as it enhances communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.
Additional Notes: The position is a project appointment with a duration of 1 year. It is open to both internal and external candidates, but only nationals from Bosnia and Herzegovina may apply. The approximate annual starting salary for this position is 98,702 BAM, and benefits may include 30 days of annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, and a pension plan.
