Job Overview:
The position of Banking and Finance Lawyer within the EIB's New Products Unit is pivotal for the development and implementation of innovative financial products. This role requires a deep understanding of banking and finance law, particularly in relation to new products such as green bonds and risk-sharing instruments. The successful candidate will provide legal support to various operational directorates, ensuring compliance with legal standards while facilitating the introduction of new financing structures. The role demands collaboration with internal teams and external legal counsel, as well as engagement with stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions. Duties and Responsibilities:

The lawyer will also be involved in creating standard legal documentation, supporting the implementation of new initiatives, and conducting legal research to stay abreast of relevant legal developments. Additionally, the role requires maintaining relationships within the Bank and representing the EIB externally, ensuring that all legal aspects of operations are addressed effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in law, equivalent to at least a Bachelor's degree, along with a professional legal qualification, such as admission to a bar association in either a common law or civil law jurisdiction. A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in banking and finance law is required, preferably gained in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department. Experience with structured finance and trade finance instruments is advantageous, as is significant experience in drafting and negotiating finance and equity documentation in English. Proficiency in French is also beneficial, although not mandatory for hire.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in law, which should be equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.
