Job Overview: The Aviation Career Mapping Consultant will play a crucial role in the development of a structured aviation career cartography. This position focuses on identifying and documenting aviation professions along with their associated education, training, and competency requirements. The consultant will work within the framework of ICAO's Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Programme, which aims to enhance the visibility and attractiveness of aviation careers. The consultant will be responsible for creating a coherent aviation career mapping framework that aligns with global standards while considering national and regional variations. This role requires a deep understanding of aviation professions and the educational pathways that lead to these careers, ensuring that the information collected is comprehensive and useful for stakeholders in the aviation sector.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop a structured and coherent aviation career mapping framework that supports a common understanding of aviation professions and related education and training pathways. This includes establishing a global taxonomy of aviation professions and creating standardized templates for aviation career profiles.
Identify and document aviation professions across the aviation ecosystem, ensuring that both traditional and emerging roles are included. Develop standardized global career profiles that align with the established framework.
Document aviation education, training, and certification pathways in a structured manner, considering national and regional variations. This involves liaising with ICAO Regional Offices and relevant stakeholders to validate and collect career pathway information.
Consolidate and finalize aviation career cartography outputs to ensure quality and consistency. Prepare documentation that describes the framework and structure of the career cartography for future updates or digital visualization initiatives.
Perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall objectives of the FPS and ICAO.
Required Qualifications: Essential qualifications include a first-level university degree in aviation, education, human resources, social sciences, engineering, or a related field. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in aviation, workforce development, education and training systems, or related fields. Demonstrated experience in developing structured frameworks or classifications is also essential. Desirable qualifications include an advanced university degree in a related area and experience working with international organizations or multi-stakeholder environments. Familiarity with aviation professions and education systems is a plus.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in a relevant field such as aviation, education, human resources, social sciences, or engineering. An advanced university degree (master’s level or equivalent) in one of these fields or a closely related area is desirable, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the subject matter.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience. This experience should be in areas such as aviation, workforce development, education and training systems, or related fields. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing structured frameworks, classifications, or reference tools, demonstrating their capability to handle the responsibilities of the role effectively.
Languages: Fluent reading, writing, and speaking abilities in English are essential for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of any other language of the Organization, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance the candidate's profile.
Additional Notes: The duration of the assignment is six months, with the possibility of extension based on the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. Compensation for this role is provided at a daily rate ranging from CAD 248 to CAD 39
